The original roof line is visible in the transition of weathered barn wood to the new. The solution was increasing the roof to an 8/12 pitch. We also removed the old door, and reframed the opening. For the new door, the owners chose a fiberglass model.

The result was an area of shingles that ran flat for approximately 5 inches, which then created ice dams and water ponding that eventually damaged the overhang and soffit.
