We initially thought that we could work directly with the contractors, as this would be a simple project: refinish the old cabinets, replace the range, build another wall of cabinets, and extend all the cabinets to the ceiling, eliminating soffits. Plus new flooring, counters, and backsplash. > > We soon saw that we were in over our heads. Too many decisions had to be made, and we were overwhelmed by the choices. Bringing Risha and Taylor of Walden Interiors into the project was the best decision we made. They were able to understand our desires for the finished kitchen and winnow down all the decisions to a smaller, manageable number of choices for each piece of the project. > > In the end we saw that it was better and more cost effective to replace our cabinets. We fell in love with a suite of appliances to replace our old ones. We converted the kitchen window to a bay window and commissioned a colorful bird mural on one wall. We even redid our pantry closet. Flooring, countertops, and backsplashes are wonderful. We couldn't have done the analysis and made these decisions without Walden's wonderful guidance at every step. > > We took two long vacations, and all the construction work was completed while we were away, so we avoided living through the mess or moving out. We felt confident knowing that Risha and Taylor were onsite to handle any issues that came up. > > The one shortfall: we wish that Risha had been in frequent contact with us, giving us progress reports, texting us pictures, letting us know about decisions that needed to be made.
