> We wanted a rustic lake home kitchen and living room remodel & I met with several contractors before I had the pleasure of meeting with Rick Tollerud.
>
> These days one is lucky if a contractor even gets back to you but I could tell right away that we had the kind of rapport I look for in someone I want to do business with. He was extremely articulate, genuine, detail oriented and extremely responsive. He always made me feel like I was the only project he was managing though I knew he had many.
>
> Rick had a team of tradespeople that he trusted fully and they trusted him They were all very friendly, professional, on time and meticulously cleaned up after themselves every day. It was very soothing to hear these tradespeople volunteer their own positive comments about Rick while here about how they also valued Rick's organizational and communication skills. It's one thing to run a tight ship but another to be totally respected for it.
>
> Sure enough the remodel was done on time even through 2021-22 supply crisis times. I'm sure a lot of that was due to Rick's deliberate premeditated anticipation for exactly what would be needed and when. We worked together to come up with some really fun and unique upgrades. Rick worked to think through every move so it was done correctly and by code. Any issue I thought might have been a problem he worked to make sure it wasn't. No remodel is 100% perfect and there were a couple of minor little things that needed attention since the end date and Rick promptly responded and confidently let me know not to worry and it would be taken care of asap and sure enough it was.
>
> Our home turned out beautifully with meticulous attention to detail and high quality workmanship. We have more remodeling to do & when we are ready we will be having Rick back no question about it.

> Iron River Construction did a wonderful job replacing our deck! We are extremely pleased with how smooth the project went and how great the deck looks. We can't wait to use it this spring/summer. The crew was professional and worked hard each day. Randy was our project manager, he was great to work with, very thorough, and answered our many questions. I'd highly recommend Iron River Construction to anyone looking to have a deck completed.

**★★★★★ — Dan Foley, Dec. 2020**

> We started looking for a contractor to build out a new deck from our existing deck back in 2019, the process (with other companies) was frustrating and wasted a lot of time. Luckily we found Iron River and the experience with them was night and day. They were responsive throughout the process and ended up being the only company out of 8 or so that actually came back to us with a quote and seemed like they wanted our business. Randy was great to work with from beginning to end and the crew who were onsite were professional and on time. The project ended up getting pushed back due to an early freeze last year and then Covid this spring. None the less they were able to get the project started and completed with in two weeks once they started in late April. The new cedar deck looks awesome, and I can't stress enough how refreshing it was to work with a company that actually cares about the work they do and how they treat their costumers. Many other construction companies should take notice...

> Rick and the team at Iron River Construction have been great to work with. We have used them for two separate projects now - a complete basement finish and a master bath remodel. Very satisfied with the results on both. Would be happy to work with them again on future projects.

**★★★★★ — Lisa Mushett, July 2020**

> Randy Spring and his team at Iron River Construction were great to work with in building our 16'x34' Cedar Deck with Aluminum Rails from beginning to end. Randy took the time to present us many options at the beginning, always responded in a timely manner to our questions never being through this before, and let us know of any changes that could affect our project's bottom line whether it was materials, pricing, timeline or financing. Randy's crew was just as professional in their efforts and always was available for questions. Our deck was actually completed two weeks earlier than promised because they had an unexpected opening in their schedule and had the foresight to ask us if we would be willing to move into that spot, completing it in time for the 4th of July weekend.

**★★★★★ — Heather Laska, Jan. 2020**

> Before choosing Iron River to build our new deck we had met with five different building companies. From the moment we met Randy, the contractor, we felt comfortable with him. We could tell he was extremely knowledgeable, had great suggestions and wasn’t pushy or aggressive. He was able to give us an idea of the cost on the spot and then the actual bid came within 24 hours, where a few of the companies we met with took over a month. We were initially scheduled to build our deck at the end of fall so because of the weather it was a later start than we were planning on, but once Joe and his team started they were able to work quickly, even in cold weather. Randy kept in constant communication with us throughout the process and now that our deck is done we couldn’t be happier. We would recommend Iron River to anyone.

**★★★★★ — Adam Nicolai, Dec. 2019**

> I went to 5 different contractors trying to find one that was reliable, produced quality work, and wouldn't break the bank. Two of out three ain't bad. : P
>
> It was ~$30k for an AZEK all-maintenance-free 16'x24' with diamond pier footings (my request). The price was higher than I'd hoped to find, but honestly after looking around as much as I did I don't think we could have gotten it cheaper, at least not without cutting major corners. So the price was disappointing, but not unbearable. Thankfully the rest of the experience was fantastic.
>
> When I had questions I almost always received a prompt call back, even when my point of contact was out of state on vacation. The workers were approachable and friendly and answered questions. It was finished on schedule and to spec. We did have one surprise where some extra posts were needed, but that came from the city inspector and was not Iron River's fault - in fact, IR worked with us to keep the price of those extra posts as low as humanly possible.
>
> They even fixed a minor siding issue we had at the corner of the house (my fault - I hit it with the lawnmower) completely for free.
>
> The quality of the deck is fantastic and I can't wait to grill on it this summer. Overall experience was excellent. We're thinking about expanding the space beneath the deck into a 3-season porch in the future using Zip-up. IR built the deck with this possible expansion in mind and if we do decide to pursue it - or any other project in their wheelhouse - I would use Iron River again in a heartbeat.

> I have had to pleasure of partnering with Iron River Construction on several occasions. They are a high integrity company, and deliver high quality work! I look forward to working with them on future projects!

**★ — Kurt Bichler, Aug. 2018**

> Bad experience with this contractor. I would not recommend them for your roofing project. Try another contractor and save yourself the headaches.

**Comment from Iron River Construction:**

> This homeowner is wrongly upset at us when he should be mad at his insurance company. His insurance company has refused to pay for needed repairs to his roof. We, and everyone involved in this situation, have tried to explain this repeatedly for the last 8 months. We have had an engineer, a home inspector and the county building official inspect this property, meet with him onsite multiple times, and all have agreed and wrote extensive reports that there was no damage to the roof, masonry, or flashing caused by Iron River. Period. This is an issue of bringing his home up to 2018 code, which is necessary in any roofing or remodeling project.

**★★★★★ — S Lee, Feb. 2018**

> I don't often leave reviews, but when I experience high quality service and I'm seriously pleased with a company, I feel compelled to share. I bid out my basement build with several different companies including my home builder--and Alex with Iron River--was the only estimator that followed up with me to answer questions. That was my first indication of good customer service. At every step, he demonstrated excellent project management of his job: clear communication of schedule and process so I understood what to expect every day/week; great management of my expectations so I didn't misunderstand what was happening or get disappointed with the build process; easy and immediate access to him with all my random questions. Every call and email was answered immediately. It was a big project for us so Alex was wonderful about helping us make informed decisions for every little detail and worked closely with me to ensure that I could visualize the end result. I also appreciated so much that he and his team respected my family's space and daily schedule. His team was all very personable and skilled in getting the work done. Our family is thrilled with how the basement has been built and we couldn't be more pleased with the experience that Alex provided. I've already recommended him and Iron River to my neighbors and, without a doubt, I will work with them again in the future.

**★ — Tim Burgett, Feb. 2018**

> 90 day project took 244 days until they walked away with out completing. Much rework. Unable to follow plans. Ordered mill work wrong color with out getting approval. Very inexperienced and amateur company. Always have an excuse. Would recommend you find a more qualified contractor.

**★ — pamelafisher65, Feb. 2018**

> We waited 2 weeks or more for the initial estimate for water damage in our attic only to be rudely treated by the owner herself Iron River Construction.
>
> We were told that we were not acting satisfied with there employee that came out to estimate the water damage because she was a female, when we never felt this way for a moment. We were simply wondering what was taking so long for the estimate.
>
> The second time we contacted the company the owner told us to call her employee about the estimate because she wasn’t working on our home estimate and asked me if I had the employees phone number if not she was going to give it to me. I asked her if she could call her employee and get back to me and that lead to a rude response from the owner of Iron River and her telling me that I should find another contractor to do the job.
>
> This was the most unprofessional experience that I have ever had in dealing with any type of service. The lack of telephone skills and project planning was shocking especially from the owner herself.
>
> I would never recommend this company to another person.
>
> Yuck

**Comment from Iron River Construction:**

> In lieu of a detailed response to this review, I will just state that Iron River reserves the right to refuse to do business with anyone that is incredibly disrespectful to the hard working men and women of this company. Starting the conversation by being incredibly rude and calling my 35 year old Project Manager a "little girl" and demanding a man instead is a sure sign that we are not going to be a good fit. I declined the job.

  - Description: Though it may be hard to spot, there was a lot of layout rework to make this a functional space for the family. A corner pantry replaces the entrance from the garage, which was always a pinch point. Relocating the door from the garage gave us room to create an actual mudroom for this family of four.

A: Glass tile is Jeffery Court, Sonoma Rhomboid Luxe Blend
