She left the job after we paid her full fee, and when she told us it was her last day, she also told us that we needed all new light fixtures and cabinet knobs in one of the rooms (shouldn’t she have told us that on the first day and not the last…we are still baffled by that one). Perhaps we were too indecisive or demanding for her tolerance, but if that was the case Ruth lacked the communication skills to tell us whatever her concerns were. > > Ruth also pressured us into buying expensive window treatments from her “preferred vendor”, which we did not really want (nor do we care for the ones she pushed on us for our bedroom). > > Since we had to hire a new decorator, we also learned where Ruth really failed. Initially we planned to "do" the living room, entry, and sunroom only. In that first phase, she helped us trade in our oriental carpet for a better fit, pick window treatments, new upholstery, and select artwork for the room. Since we were so pleased with the results of those rooms, we asked her to provide window treatments for a study, office, master bedroom and bath. All rooms turned out better than our dreams.
