Any ideas how to accessorize the sofa table? A: you may want to consider doing tall decorative lamps on top on either side. and in the middle having glass bowls with candy or decorative items and maybe some small picture frames. Below you could do books stacked and some small glass jars **Q: Interior Design: Conflict of styles - Modern Vs. Traditional** *(in Design Dilemma)* I would like to know if there are any interior designers who say 'no' to mixing styles...such as modern and traditional. My example is a chandelier (modern) and a ceiling medallion (traditional), see attached picture. Is this always wrong? Or are there exceptions. Lastly what is your personal opinion of the pictured example. Thank you! A: I mix styles all the time. As a Designer by trade, I feel this looks great! Good job!! The chandelier isn't that modern for the medallion but it does look a little on the small side. Other then that, I think the mixture is perfect. **Q: Shower** *(in Design Dilemma)* Old shower and jacuzzi tub have to go ,am on a very tight budget rimless shower Doors are to expensive are glass blocks an option? A: Glass blocks are very outdated. I would opt to do a decorative curtain or even a single glass panel instead of a full door. **Q: Need advice on backsplash.** *(in Design Dilemma)* So the upper cabinets are painted SW "steamed milk". We are planning to remove the 4" granite rise from the counter before doing the back splash. Trying to choose between white or gray subway. There's a lot of gray i the counters but don't want to be too trendy. Also would you use the 3x6? Open to other ideas. Style is modern farms house & walls in adjoining rooms are taupe grey ish/ blue accents. A: Stick with a white beveled 3x6 subway tile. The bevel gives it a great look instead of just the smooth standard subway. **Q: Help with remodel of kitchen** *(in Design Dilemma)* Washer and dryer is next to fridge. How can I make this space more functional A: I would definitely switch the range and the refrigerator placements. Moving the 220v is probably around $300-500. Moving the washer and dryer to another area of the house would be ideal if the budget fits. I would also put some kind of an island in there. Even a island cart would be nice. **Q: Island Dilemma and Spacing** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hi, My wife and I are planning to do a full kitchen reno and plan to change the layout of our kitchen. We were just wondering if these dimensions make sense and if there is enough clearance around the island. My biggest worry is by adding this island in, it will feel cramped. I hope by adding floating shelves and some cool art work, it would give us a decent view to look at while we wash the dishes.
