The bathroom remodel Fall 2022 did not. > > Steve was great to work with and very involved for the kitchen remodel but his son Austin ran the bathroom remodel which had issues. > > In Fall 2022 we used Java again for a straight forward upstairs full bath remodel. Steve's son handled most of the project and lots of issues came up, most resolved except for 1 and a couple not resolved fully. > > Their subcontractors (which tend to be the more expensive ones in Louisville such as Dauenhauer and Corrigan) left a mess in the bathroom, adjoining laundry room, adjoining bedroom, steps, and even outside in multiple locations. Austin did some cleanup a couple of times after it was brought up, but there was still drywall mud between flooring boards, on the washer and dryer, steps, etc. > > We had 2 areas where grout and thinset were dumped in the backyard grass which I had to deal with. Our oldest's bedroom and laundry room have a layer of drywall dust throughout from no precautions being taken to avoid it. > > The biggest issue was Dauenhauer did not install the shower valve to the correct depth so ~1" of valve is exposed between escutcheon and handle. Austin had a supervisor come talk with us about it and said "some do that" which is not a real answer from a plumbing contractor - you set it correctly for what is being installed. Austin was completely silent during the meeting and was not on our side. I'm currently redoing the valve install. This is a standard 2x4 wall, 1/2" cement board, and normal subway tile. Nothing special that required installing the valve as far forward as possible. > > Austin needs to pay more attention and ensure the subs do what is expected of them. I'm sorry to hear our plumber did not resolve this problem, as a long time contractor we will make every effort to correct any items thats not up to our high standards.
