> Eric and the other masons at Solid Rock are true professionals and master craftsmen.  They designed and installed a Tulikivi masonry heater for us.  The process was absolutely painless.  Eric is a man of his word and stands behind his projects.  He is uncompromising when it comes to quality.  He not only knows masonry, but is an expert in the design of wood-fired heaters, and that experience is priceless since anyone can put stones together, but understanding the design and safety aspects of masonry heaters are what makes projects like this last a lifetime (or more).  One of Eric's long time masons (Mike) told me that he "has the best job in the world"  and "can't believe I get paid to do this", which speaks a lot about the quality of the people at Solid Rock and the passion that they have for their work.  I was initially concerned about having a contractor that I did not know from out of town doing work for us since they are always under pressure to finish up as planned due to overnight expenses in addition to labor expenses. Our project took about a day longer than he had originally planned due to some complications, however they stayed an extra day to finish all the fine details and clean up and did not shortcut or try to skip out before the project was flawless.  That is the sign of a true professional.   I would happily pay for the 10hr round trip travel time to have him do another masonry project for us.

I was able to approach Eric with a possible design that would allow for a "heat exchanger" to be tied into my in floor heat.  SRM was able to have separate conversations with HVAC installers to make sure they had the proper information on the BTU output of the stove to ensure an accurate heat/plate exchanger, and pressurized system was built.

He had to coordinate with local contractors working on other projects and build it in a timely manner as others relied on him to wrap up so they could keep working.  He did a great job, and we are extremely happy with the heater and his service.  He has always been helpful as I call with questions and concerns as I learn to fully heat cleanly, simply and efficiently my 4,000 +/- square feet with wood.  I would make this choice again in a heartbeat to have the masonry heater installed, and after 4 years now we still love it as much or more than we every hoped for.  Priced similarly to other high end wood burning devices.  We calculated that the appliance payback time would be 4 years, so from here on out it saves us money!
