What we received was anything but. > > Both sets of doors arrived with damage to the powder coating, were missing cane bolt hardware, and the inactive leaf was not prepped for hardware at all. These were not minor cosmetic issues—they were clear quality-control and fabrication problems right out of the box. > > Unfortunately, the problems continued after installation. Due to poor craftsmanship and fabrication errors, one of the glass panes exploded as the glass was installed directly against the steel frame with no margins given. This was completely unacceptable and, entirely preventable. > > We spoke with the company and agreed that we would arrange to have the errors corrected with local vendors which they would reimburse us for. Despite having made numerous attempts to contact the company and have repeatedly been assured that they would make things right. Despite those promises, they have failed to address the problems or take responsibility for the issues with their product instead forcing us to absorb $10,000 dollars in correcting their mistakes and poor craftsmanship. > > What is most frustrating is not only the poor quality of the doors, but the lack of accountability and follow-through after the sale. We spent a significant amount of money expecting a professionally made product, only to be left dealing with damage, missing hardware, installation problems, and a broken pane of glass. > > We would not recommend this company. If you are considering purchasing from them, we strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Quality control, craftsmanship, and customer service have all fallen far short of what we believe a customer should expect. **Comment from Iron Works USA:** > Thank you for sharing your feedback, Jon. We take every customer concern seriously and regret that this project ended in frustration. > > For anyone reading this, here is the documented sequence of events. Mr. Ambrose’s order shipped on February 9 and was installed on February 16 by a contractor arranged through the customer, not by Iron Works USA’s installation team. After that installation, he contacted us with photos of minor finish touch-up needs and noted that strike plate holes had not yet been drilled. This is standard for our process - strike plate holes are drilled on-site after installation to ensure proper alignment with field conditions, trim, and framing. At that time, no glass issues were mentioned. > > On February 27, Mr. Ambrose first reported cracked glass - eleven days after installation. He also stated he was obtaining quotes to remove the doors and sandblast them completely rather than perform touch-up. Our powder coat provider stocks specialized textured touch-up powder matched to our finishes for minor corrections, and based on the photos provided, a complete removal and sandblast did not appear warranted. > > On June 3, Mr. Ambrose sent a written request totaling $9,655 for touch-up, glass replacement, and related work. He also stated that the glass replacement alone cost approximately $5,265, an amount he described as roughly half the price of a door. Our records show the replacement glass material was approximately $635, so we requested documentation supporting the claimed $5,265 glass replacement cost. The repair costs were presented after outside vendors had already been involved, without giving us a fair chance to review, confirm the cause, or approve the scope in advance. > > We were willing to work toward a reasonable resolution, but we could not approve a reimbursement request that was not supported by a verified inspection and a reasonable, itemized repair scope. We remain willing to review any documented warranty-related item through our normal service process. > > We stand behind our products and our customers, and we would welcome a direct conversation to close this matter professionally. We live in Arkansas and they were supposedly located in Mississippi, so we decided to take a little road trip and see if they were legit. > After a three hour drive, we enjoyed looking around their showroom and talking with the staff. We are building a new house in Little Rock and they custom made our beautiful arched 6'×9' double front door. From the first time they came to measure until the installation, working with them has been a breeze!! (They even worked with us on the price!)
