> My husband said yes lets remodel the kitchen! Deborah Dall had helped redesign my dining room many years ago so I sought her out. I was recovering from amnesia so Deb made sure I had everything I needed in writing. She spent extra time with all the contractors to make sure want we planned got done. She designed the kitchen expansion as well as the exchange of space in the living room and some redesign in the dining room. Deb is hands on designer hauling items, hanging curtains, and pictures so everything is perfectly done. she blended existing pieces with others she sought out to compliment what I already had. Her advice and direction were all that I had hoped they would be. I love my kitchen - I am happy whenever I am there. My friend told me my living room was lovely and cozy. When Deb works with you she is focused and attentive. It feels like you are her only client.

> As a contractor I have worked with Deb on several projects ranging from kitchen remodels to whole house renovations, she is excellent at both the design aspect of a project, pulling together colors and features, and the actual scope of work required to complete the project! She is professional and always a pleasure to work with!

> As an artist I have always enjoyed decorating my own home. However, I was totally at a loss on where to head next on my project. I hired Deb Dall for an initial 4 hour consultation. She was wonderful! She reaffirmed some of my own ideas, while adding her own fabulous suggestions! She immediately understood my eclectic style but had visions that would take it beyond my original scope. She came back for a follow-up to work with me on a tile project and also review what had been accomplished. Not only is Deb an outstanding designer and professional she is a delightful person whom I highly recommend!

> Deb did a great job at helping me narrow down decisions and pick the best options for our condo renovation. We met at my home to make some decisions and she met me at places of business to look at and narrow down other choices. She has a great design eye and was fun to work with! I would highly recommend her for any job, large or small!

**★★★★★ — Cathy Gero, April 2017**

> Husband and I decided to build a house in Brewer, Maine. We needed someone local as we live full time in Texas. Deb was highly recommended by several people to be easy to work with, flexible and honest. Deb proved to be all of those things. Project was very challenging but Deb was adaptable. House is finally constructed and for the last year we have been working on furnishings and artwork.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Small front entryway ideas welcomed** *(in Home Decorating)*

I need to brighten up the front entrance so it is more welcoming and inviting and makes me glad to be home. What should I do? Is the table to heavy? Should I add a mirror or piece of art? I’m clueless

A: Hello thinze.
Couple of immediate thoughts for the space come to mind.
First would be to pair down the color block and outlining of the walls, less emphasis on the angles in the space, let the interest of angles speak for themselves, a bit less abruptly, neautralize them a bit. Then add interest back in by adding either a select group or a multitude of colors thru artwork; pottery/glassware; area rugs and by painting the three doors.
Start by selecting area rugs and art with splashes of colors that please you. Select area rugs that can be thrown into a washing machine, or that can be hosed off, indoor outdoor rugs come in a wide assortment of colors and patterns, and in your case will serve the purpose for walk off before stepping on to impervious tile, a rubber rug liner will help eliminate slipping and movement. A pattern in the rugs will add interest and hide dirt better than the solid dark rugs that you have now. They are inexpensive as well.
Regarding the space to the left of your coat closet, the one with the low wood cabinet, think of it as a greeting wall, you should add special interest here. I would suggest a taller table or cabinet, to replace the low early American piece, consider a painted piece of furniture, rather than a stained piece.
Then select a fabulous piece of art, be that a painting; photograph; metal or wood wall sculpture, think tall, letting it reach the same, or slightly above the door height, is okay.
Regarding a mirror, it should always reflect something of beauty or interest, so with that thought, another idea would be to add a tall mirror above the table, or cabinet, and then treat yourself to a fresh cut of flowers each week, set up a deal with a local florist, take whatever they have left over, or can get in abundance at a deal, the flowers will be a beautiful reflection in the mirror and will add life to the space, why wait for someone to buy us flowers, it is one of the nicest things we can treat ourselves to, nothing says I care about myself mor than flowers.
Whatever it is that you do there, think of it as something that greets you, something that you love to see as you enter your home.
Then have fun, paint the doors, either all the same or as individuals, either subtle or as a statement of color, something to enhance the added colors of the art and rugs.
Add additional color to the soffit above the doors, with pottery; glass or even painted wood art, or add a mutitude of imagery or paintings or prints spanning a cross the entire area, left to right, above the doors, just keep in mind that whatever you select should be viewable and identifiable from a distance, so simple large imagery, splashes of color or black and white, whichever balances out best for you.
Lastly, consdier replacing the light fixture over head, the piece hanging there looks like it belongs over a dining room table or a pool table, find something of interest that belongs in a foyer.
Hope this helps, please post new imagery once done.
