### Reviews

**★★★★★ — Cosmos Painting Company, Inc., Jan. 2018**

> Our firm had the pleasure of working with Justine on a painting project in the Summer of 2017.
> When I stepped in the home for our first meeting, it was as if I walked into a design magazine. After our crews finished updating wall colors and refreshing trim throughout the house, the whole team shared how clean, timeless and tailored her work is.
>
> Outstanding! I would highly recommend Justine.

> I have had the pleasure of working with Justine on two major interior design and decorating projects over the last five years. She is extremely talented, precise, professional, thoughtful and fun! Justine has architectural skills that most designers do not have which is most helpful when designing spaces. In addition, she works extremely well with not only the homeowner, but the general and subcontractors as well. I would highly recommend her.

**Comment from Justine Sterling Design:**

> Thank you Nancy! And working with you is fantastic. We make a great team :-)

**★★★★★ — Huston & Company, Feb. 2016**

> We have worked with Justine on several projects for custom furniture for her clients. It is always a pleasure. Justine knows what she wants for her clients and her depth of knowledge allows her to communicate her design ideas clearly to us. She is quick to respond to our questions, approve design drawings and finishes. Justine asks the right questions to get just what her clients need.

> Justine came over for a 2 hour consultation. She had asked me to send her a list of things I wanted to review when she was here, so I was motivated and invested the time in putting together my wish list. Just the act of doing that was incredibly helpful! Once she got here, she was focused and prepared and full of great ideas. I was amazed that we actually got through everything on my list! The follow up document summary she sent arrived very quickly and was incredibly thorough. I hope that I can maintain the momentum that she inspired in me!

> Working with Justine was just amazing. In connection with a large scale kitchen and family room renovation, Justine transformed and update the look, feel and function of our entire home. She listened so well and brought us outstanding selections and options. The colors and textures flow together so beautifully. The attention to detail was incredible from space planning to functional details to the picture frames that now hold our family pictures. Every request, every ask was accomplished without a second thought. It is just so beautiful we feel like we are living in rooms custom designed for us......and we are.

> After meeting with a number of designers, I hired Justine Sterling Design based on her portfolio and how I felt we got along at our initial consultation. It was the best decision I made in my renovation and redecoration project. The outcome speaks for itself: our rooms are beautiful and exactly what we wanted. It has been a stunning transformation.
> Justine worked hard to help us honor our commitment to ourselves to only buy North American made products and as many locally manufactured items as possible. Where this was challenging, she showed great creativity and ingenuity in sourcing items.
> She provided a full range of design services to us from CAD drawings for furniture placement, consultation on lighting design, lighting plans, proposals for paint, tile, stone, flooring, fabrics, light fixtures and furniture. She was careful in how she used her time for our project and always respectful of the fact that time is literally money.
> In a very costly project, the money we spent on Justine's design services was the most well spent. I have since recommended her to one good friend and will continue to do so to others unreservedly.

> This was our first time working with a designer and we were thrilled with our consultation. Justine was very easy and pleasant to work with. She gave us lots of ideas from paint colors and furniture placement to storage solutions and staging ideas. We got just what we needed to jump start our design projects. We would highly recommend Justine Sterling Design.

**Comment from Justine Sterling Design:**

> Thanks Linda, it was great to meet you and help you kickstart your projects. And it's always wonderful to work with people in my local town! All the best.

> Justine is a pleasure to work with! My "two hour consultation" with Justine was most productive, helpful and inspiring. Her expertise and keen eye - saw possibilities that I never would have identified. We covered paint colors, room layouts, improving the kitchen space, lighting, and many incidentals. She left me with a clear plan for enhancing the bones of my new condo where I had limited options to include in the build. This consult was a great value and will save me from what I am sure would have been many false starts. I am now prepared to launch this new space with confidence and look forward to working with Justine again for the next phase.

> Justine & I have worked together on various projects as colleagues for the last 15 years both in a large commercial firm and in our own separate firms. Whenever I can, I try to bring her into my residential projects because she is so professional, resourceful, and has a fantastic ability to guide clients into making smart and insightful decisions. Her vision is always so clear and she is constantly coming up with innovative ideas on each project that perfectly suits a clients needs and wants.

> Justine is also a great member of any project team. She is organized, driven, very talented, and follows through on projects until they are exceptional. Any client that I've brought Justine raves about her, prepare to be impressed when you hire Justine as her combination of skills is truly unique.

> Our first experience with Justine Sterling Design was during our renovation. When the contractors needed paint colors (basically for the whole house) within a few days (to keep the project on schedule) my anxiety was evident. Our architect suggested we call Justine. We showed Justine all the elements...cabinets,tile,etc, told her our color preferences and in 2 days we had a color palette chosen that we loved and flowed throughout our renovated home. After our renovation was done, we called Justine for help with a sitting area in our open design 1st floor. Again with ease, she had a floor plan and furniture choices, etc that we loved and were within our budget. The end result was beautiful and functional! We now have called Justine for a 3rd time for help with our family room. From previous experience,we look forward to working with Justine and the end result. She is professional, talented, efficient and pleasant. Justine helps me make design choices that I would be afraid to do on my own!! P.S. Sorry I don't have my act together...I don't have pictures to post with this review!

> I highly recommend the services of Justine Sterling Design. Justine transformed our outdated living room into a beautiful and livable space that we love spending much of our time in. I always found decorating to be overwhelming. Justine's guidance and experience made the process move smoothly. She brought me out of my comfort zone with some of her design ideas and the results were wonderful. She is very professional, knowledgeable and personable. I look forward to having her back.

> We had a great experience working with Justine over the course of 6 months to completely furnish and decorate three rooms in our home. She was very quick to understand our style and extremely thoughtful about our practical needs in suggesting layout and furniture pieces. She was consistently cognizant about remaining within our budget. She is also a delightful person to deal with in general. Most importantly, her taste is simply impeccable. I heard this repeatedly from the other sales representatives/design associates we met with and came to the same conclusion myself when the project was ultimately finished. She helped us create spaces that are stylish yet comfortable, that are unique yet not overdone, and that we love to spend time in. We get so many compliments on how beautiful our home looks, and it is all thanks to Justine. We plan to work with Justine on a couple other rooms in our home in the near future.

  - Description: This Colonial Victorian beauty has the great bones of a grand New England home but was sorely lacking in an overall vision for the home. Justine Sterling's design started with the exterior color concepts and then brought the family of six’s vision for the interior alive. Original period details were all kept intact. The classic approach to the design enhanced what was already there. The space planning incorporated cozy spaces in the home for them to all hang out, a supersized dining table was cu…

  - Description: Our clients finally had the opportunity to update the interior of their center entry brick Colonial and looked to the JSD Design Team to bring their vision to life. They loved New England blue palettes but also wanted to inject color in other ways into the interior using nature-inspired colors. A Craig Mooney commissioned painting brought in greens from the marshy landscape that is the fireplace focal point, and a similar shade of green is repeated in the Mid-Century-inspired entry lamp and dini…

## Community Q&A

**Q: Does the wall color look different depending on the the light?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hello! We have a spec home under construction and we chose to go with April Showers for the entire home. It looked like it was a good compromise between Shoji (SW) and Analytical gray (SW). As it's going up, it looks very green. We've only completed the garage and with the lack of natural light and a lot of reflection, it will change inside. Paint is always so challenging. I like that in the picture it has a hint of green, but almost gray and that depends on what it's reflecting. Anyways, look forward to hearing about your experience with April Showers. Thank you!

A: I always recommend painting the color on a board and viewing it at different times of day in different natural and artificial light. If you don't love it, don't do it! Color is so personal so find the right shade for you.

**Q: table and banquet** *(in Photo Questions)*

Where can I get the table, does it has extentions ,what are the demensions of the banquette?

A: Hi, someone else asked this question too, but the table is from Huston and Company. I would always suggest working with a designer in your area to help determine the best dimensions for YOUR own project to ensure a good table/bench fit. Having a central base at a table is a must. Good luck!

**Q: Floors** *(in Photo Questions)*

What type of hard wood is the floor made of?

A: It is noted in the article, lots of other good info there from Becky Harris :-) (Hickory, stained - wide plank)

**Q: Dimensions please** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hi, could you please give me an idea of the length of this room? Assuming the picture is being taken from the double ovens. So from the back wall behind the ovens all the way to the double french doors.

A: Yes, photos and plans are merely for inspiration, but show your contractor or kitchen person and they can help you out if you are not hiring a designer. Good luck!

**Q: What color is the quartzite?** *(in Photo Questions)*

In the article, there is a closeup of the quartzite on the island, (the article does say it is quartzite) but it does not mention what the color/type it is. Does anyone know?

A: Hello, it is Taj Mahal.
All the best
Justine

**Q: Who makes the frige freezer pulls?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi, the supplier is Horton Brasses https://www.horton-brasses.com
