We started out only intending to replace our Formica counter tops and to perhaps extend the existing bar into a peninsula to better define the cooking space in our 20 year old kitchen. Our contractor suggested that we consult a kitchen designer to consider all of the possibilities before we started, and I had worked with Cabinet Studio previously so I immediately contacted Tim Nichols. Tim is a pleasure to work with in every respect. He asks a lot of questions with regard to problematic issues, makes excellent suggestions to address issues, and works well with everyone involved in a project from start to finish. We ended up totally remodeling our kitchen by turning the desk/pantry space into a beverage center which also serves as a buffet for large family gatherings and extending the existing bar into a peninsula with an additional prep sink. The kitchen functions beautifully just as it was designed! We could not be happier with the end result as well as with the overall experience. Tim is a skilled designer but his best gift is the ability to get inside the head of his client and bring our dreams and ideas to life. We had a very tricky layout of our kitchen and Tim's creativity helped us to uncover the perfect solution to place appliances and cabinets. With the kitchen done we had another massive job redesigning the entire layout of our master bath which hadn't been updated since the 1940's. Tim understood our budget and our design sense. He was always available to include weekends. He came to our home to inspect the space and measure. He listened carefully to our thoughts, ideas, and preferences, then made some excellent suggestions. His drawings brought the project to life; modifications were not a problem. Michael helped with large and small details including precise measuring for custom cabinets to fit the space, design balance for symmetry, cool wavy glass for the doors, LED under cabinet lighting, crown molding and support and guidance with the hardware selection. When the cabinets arrived, he met with his installer in our kitchen to review all the design details. By the way, the installation was meticulous, done by Hector Rodriguez, a master carpenter who works closely with Michael. After the kitchen was installed, Michael returned several times to inspect the work and ensure our satisfaction. Michael also provided invaluable input on the selection of tile, paint, granite and wood flooring. He came, he saw, and he conquered. Thank you! A: The flooring is carrara marble.
