A: I believe the homeowner covers the furnishings; the irrigation system waters this area as a separate zone. **Q: Low lying shrubs** *(in Photo Questions)* What species is this? A: It is pachysandra, aka, Japanese spurge. This is a ground cover that does very well in shady areas. A: This plant is called Astilbe. It comes in numerous flower colors. **Q: Gardening query** *(in Photo Questions)* What are the red flowers in the ground to the left and right of the steps? A: They were Impatiens, regular, taller variety, Super Elfin Red. However, downy mildew has hit the growers / nurseries pretty hard so impatiens are more difficult to find. When against a lawn edge, steel is less noticeable, a lot stronger (naturally), and resists movement more than vinyl throughout the seasons.
