Through the years we have watched her designs grow into a truly well laid out design for her clients. Prior to a photo session we decide on lighting, accessories and the best angle to photograph these rooms. With the current photo technology, Sue has a chance to see the actual photo on an ipad and make any modifications to the accessories and only when she is happy with the final image we do the final photograph. This can take 40 to 50 photos and frequently takes over an hour to get the right shot. We work well together, discussing many different options and making sure her design is captured correctly on the final image. We then use actual paint and fabric samples to match colors in the post production, realizing the camera doesn't always register the correct color. I will have white cabinets and dark floors. I would like to do full height granite backsplash (18 inches). I want the look to be simple, clean, timeless not too trendy. Opinions please! A: It's a nice look. I've done it both ways for clients (granite or tile). One option, depending on the layout and size of your kitchen, is to have some of each if there is a separate area such as a coffee bar. Your cooking area could be a subway tile, and the coffee bar area (or whatever you have), could be the granite. If the areas are separate, this is a nice look. **Q: Designers and Pros - a question of curiosity...** *(in Design Dilemma)* I've noticed some questions spring a deluge of answers from professionals. Other questions seem to spark no interest at all. I'm curious, what motivates you to engage in this virtual conversation of design? A: If it's related to my area of expertise, I may respond. I won't help select paint colors via a computer monitor, nor will I design a whole room for free, based on minimal or disjointed information from the OP. Like Dragonfly and others said, if it's succinct and to the point, if it doesn't have a response yet, I will take a look and see if I can help, but if another pro "has this" as Dragonfly said, I see no need to add to it, unless it's to agree with the pro (I will also agree with non-pros!). Another note is that often when a Pro posts an opinion, a non-pro often will post an opposing view contradicting the pro. If the OP chooses to engage the non-pro in further discussion, that's fine, as many non-pros have a lot of valuable knowledge to share. However, I am not posting my answer to get into an argument, or to be knocked down as if I don't know what I am talking about, so I would just refrain from any further interaction, as it would appear that my opinion isn't valued or needed. Pros offer free advice as a service to others, and we do it willingly because we like to help. But we don't have time to engage in negative banter, and unfortunately, it does happen, which sours pros from answering dilemmas altogether. **Q: Kitchen Window Trim - Too Busy?** *(in Design Dilemma)* I found some pictures on Pinterest of some window trim. I showed my husband and he went to work. But now I’m having second thoughts? We are going to put white subway tile as our backsplash next week and need to make a decision quickly. Does the trim make the wall look too busy? Should we go with a simpler design for the top of the window? How will tuit look with the subway tile? Any advice would be very helpful. Thanks! P.S (Excuse the mess, we still haven’t organized our new kitchen) A: I agree with benjesbride that the two narrow cabinets flanking the hood don't look quite right (sorry, I know you weren't asking about them, but sometimes we just can't help it!). You could take the tile all the way up to the ceiling since there is not a lot of wall there; I think it would really make that wall a focal point. Lastly, to your question, if your goal is to try and make the windows look a little more substantial, then that trim accomplishes that.
