One was expensive and not very attentive, the other was aiming to sell only on price (giving us a "you pay for what you get" type of feel,) and finally we met with Zach at Johnson Pools who painted a picture for us of exactly what we wanted. JP was not the cheapest but they also were not the most expensive of our quotes. I feel like they were able to customize for us and work within our budget. Both Zach and Steve made themselves available for questions and concerns we had. Zach even went out of his way and met me at the tile place to help decide the coping/ tile/ and pavers. I would highly recommend Johnson Pools and Zach is one of the best sales reps I have ever worked with. Unfortunately, the lagoon looks like a pointed arrow. They blew out my back basement door during the install, did not tell me the heater I purchased could not be connected to my existing propane tank (which would have cost thousands more for a new tank), the fountain had to be redone twice, and the staircase cracked every year for three years ruining my plaster, killed several large trees including a white oak by cutting into the roots by the install, and my pool is not level :( Johnson would not stand behind their mistakes installing the pool. Instead they blamed Top Gun (the plaster company) but it was Johnson that stalled having the water filled back into the pool leaving my plaster exposed to heat without water in the pool. Also, there was a season where frost was on the ground and because Johnson wasn't making any money off of repairing their cracked staircase and tiles, I was sweeping the newly installed plaster (for two weeks 4 times per day) and had to keep the pool open during the fall and almost into winter. We had an excellent experience with them. We had checked 5 references prior to selecting Johnson Pools and all 5 had an excellent experience similar to ours. The pool was constructed on time, the worksite clean and the project came in on budget. The owner, Mike, and his team had great vision on how to build the pool taking advantage of the natural slope in our backyard. The two waterfalls were constructed so we could view them from our kitchen table and family room windows and from our master bedroom. The owner personally inspected the work and trained us on how to care for the pool. The staff is well trained and the store staff are available to answer questions and provide assistance. We are thrilled with the finished project. We also had landscaping done by them which has enhanced the value of our property and the look of the pool. The pool turned out beautifully, featuring 3 sheer descents, a great lighting package, bluestone coping and pebble sheen interior. The other impressive thing about Johnson Pools is they did a superb job of coordinating with the other contractors on site - our deck contractor, the patio contractor. A: A custom cover is the best way. Companies like Loop-Loc and Merlin make nice winter covers. You would need a service company to measure and price a cover for you. Hope this helps. Thanks for your help! A: Yes it's 6" waterline tile. Pebble Tec in our area cannot go to the coping. Anywhere there is freeze/thaw a waterline tile should always be used. Hope this helps.
