> I have hired Fini Design a few times and have always been pleased and surprised at how much I enjoyed the process.

> Jean is knowledgeable without being condescending; she listens and does not try to impose her taste, though she does offer alternatives if you request them. She knows about color and light and how each is affected by the other and she has a good inner eye, i.e., she can see a room, or wall, or window as it will look. That is really helpful to people like me who have not ability to visualize what is not there.

> Jean and her team do a phenomenal job in coaching homeowners on how to maximize their home's appeal to Buyer's by simply utilizing what is already in their home. She finds the "small things" that make a huge difference. She is also extremely talented at supplemental or full staging as needed. Fini Design is a huge asset to Home Sellers and Realtors alike.

> I used Fini Design to help me stage my older house for sale. Jean is brilliant and delightful. In designing the new kitchen for resale, she saved me thousands of dollars by preventing me from investing in costly bells and whistles that wouldn't be returned when the house sold. She also saved me from a huge design mistake made by the Big Box Store I'd initially consulted. The total kitchen project came in 40% less. For the rest of the house, she incorporated my humble furniture into the layout and made it look rich and luxurious. The raves on the layout and spaciousness in this older home is astounding. It's only been on the market a week and already I have two potential buyers. I expect an offer or two any day! I'm already using Jean's personable and competent expertise in setting up my new home.

> Quinn's Carpentry has had a great professional relationship with Jean at Fini Design for several years. We collaborate with her and the homeowners to transform their space into one of their dreams. She has always created new and fresh designs using the latest materials that are unique to each client. Jean is fun and easy to work with. As a contractor, it is so nice to have Jean on a project because she works so hard and closely with the homeowners to make sure they love their new space. Jean articulates plans for the project clearly to us and it is easy to implement her designs into the construction phase. When a project is complete, everyone is impressed and thrilled. Quinn's Carpentry always enjoys working with Fini Design, as we are sure you will too!

> Jean is very good at design. She intuitively sees the whole "picture", the final result. She instantly knows the proper sizing for what should go into the room and how it should be placed for optimum appeal. She is very easy to work with and loves her work. She is very reasonable as well.

> When we decided to sell our 1970's ranch style home we employed Fini Design (Jean Dineen) to advise on what improvements would best benefit us as well as a buyer. It could have been overwhelming, but Jean helped with the very difficult process of deciding what to do. We decided to repaint the entire interior, remodel two full bathrooms, change carpet in the bedrooms and basement, tile the foyer, and replace lighting fixtures throughout the home.
> She helped us with detailed decisions on choices of faucets, tiles, paint colors, and carpets. She offered to provide workers to install these choices as well as worked with the tradesmen with whom we contracted separately. There were lots of unforeseen issues which came up in this process for which Jean took the lead in solving. My wife commented that without Jean, she might have decided that this project was too much for her. Jean was professional and worth every penny and without question we would recommend her for staging your home for sale or doing a major remodeling project.

**★★★★★ — truecolor, Oct. 2012**

> Jean is a friendly amazing person whos flexibility and fun surround every project she works on. I highly reccomend her work.

## Community Q&A

**Q: need help for a hair salon's interior design** *(in Design Dilemma)*

it's rather small. there's no appropriate lighting and color scheme

A: If your space is small you can consider cool - blues and greens- colors for decor. The make the space feel physically larger. Would you also consider using full length mirrors in your space instead of typical 36 inch mirrors?
One suggestion on lighting, LED lights in a color range of 3000 gives such beautiful clear light. I am using them all the time!

**Q: DIning room paint color** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi i have blonde wood furniture in my dining room. the buffet server has a brown marble top. My floors are light procelain tile. THe walls are currently a light sage green but ready to make a change. What goes well with blonde wood furniture?? Thanks

A: Anything! You can really have fun with this. Without seeing your home to know your particular style, I am attaching- I hope!-a paint card that was used in a Vegas hotel designed with mid century modern pieces.
Blond wood is classically mid century modern. And not used nearly enough in my opinion. These colors are actually a bit muted but much more accessible for a homeowner to use.
After all, you may like the blond wood but not the 50's and 60's design style.

**Q: Can real hart pine floors be installed on a slab after removing carpet** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Can real hart pine floors be installed on a slab after removing carpet?

A: Hi there! Is that a slab of concrete? Because the installers need to nail this product in. Over concrete floors I use what's called a floating floor like engineered wood. The lock into place.

**Q: should hallway and stair runners match? too matchy?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

recovering our hideous staircase runner (entry foyer to 2nd floor). i found a beautiful durable Karastan remnant in exactly the colors i only ever seem to love (gray, aqua, light green, neutral), and am committed to doing the stairs with it.

my question is whether to buy enough carpet to have a runner made for the adjoining second floor hallway (wood floor, long and straight). doing so would be easy, practical, and would coordinate well with any future decorating. (we don't have kids yet, but they might be the next house addition.) or to cover the stairs to our master bedroom on the 3rd floor. or both!

but is that too matchy? stair runners and adjoining hallway in exact same runner? i can't seem to find inspiration photos either way.

first picture is carpet sample or my chosen color, second is the company example of it covering a floor (in a different, brighter color). will upload my home pix later today.

A: Hi there. I understand what you mean by matchy matchy. That is so dated. That being said you have a product you love that will have the same function. It will be subtly beautiful and wear well. I would do it. A too busy space takes the sophistication level down a notch
Now if you want to match you master bedroom drapes to your bedding, give me a call. I'll talk you right out of that!

**Q: What paint color did you use?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: It should read HC 77. Sorry!

**Q: Is the wall color a Benjamin Moore paint?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: That looks like Greenbrier Beige HC 79 from Ben Moore. Or try Stone House. If you can get color samples.
