Before listing it we staged it using the services of Deborah Swartz, the owner of Ann Arbor Home Staging Consultants. Debbie walked through each room of the house with us and made recommendations, providing explanations as we went. The suggestions included removing furniture and other items to declutter and to make the home look more spacious; rearranging furniture for the best vantage, especially for the listing photos; changing some linens for a more neutral look; etc. None of the suggestions were expensive to carry out. She also helped us reach a decision about whether to make a costly improvement before listing our home, and we were happy that with her advice we decided against the investment. Following the meeting Debbie emailed us a room-by-room written summary of her suggestions which we were able to use as a checklist. After we completed the items on her list she came back out to help us arrange accessories and bookshelves before the listing photos were taken. To finish off one of the bedrooms she rented us a couple of lamps and nightstands at a modest cost, which she delivered. With Debbie’s help we were able to show our home to best advantage and we had two offers within 3 days of listing. Debbie was very professional and thoughtful and a pleasure to work with. Debbie has such a good eye for design that we wished we had her out to help us accessorize our home before selling it.
