> They used to be a good contractor but they've fallen apart.
>
> They gave us an estimate on a project without specifying what was included in detail. Later most of what we had originally specified was "not included" or a change order.
>
> They failed to complete our project, even though we paid in full. They refused to honor our warranty.
>
> They submitted bills to us for another project. When we noticed the error, they ghosted us.
>
> Watch out! Not honest, no organizational skills.

> We recommended Encol Construction to the owner of a house we are renting. They remodeled the entire house and did a great job. Sally was always available to talk to about any issues that came up and resolved them very quickly.
> I would highly recommend Encol Construction for any and all of your construction needs.

**Comment from Encol Construction:**

> Thank you Penny! It was a pleasure to work with you as well!

> We Hired Encol to build a wall for us and create a door to make a new room for us. We also had them refinish our hardwood floors and remove/repair several areas with outdated outlets and alarm keypads. We were delighted with the outcome of each project. We live in a historic home which required carefully removing and rebuilding crown molding around the new door. We were shocked to see how seamless the door and frame looked, as if it has always been there! In addition to Encol's professional work, perhaps the most significant aspect of hiring them was the positive communication maintained throughout the process. We have hired several contractors in the past, but none of them came close to Encole in terms of getting back to us quickly, communicating effectively and being congenial in general. I would recommend them Highly.

**Comment from Encol Construction:**

> Thank you so much, you were a delight to work with as well!

> Encol Construction performed total renovation of my one-bedroom condo. They were very innovative in their recommendations to upgrades. They were receptive to all suggestions and very proactive in decisions regarding design points. I highly recommend Encol for renovation and design services. It should also be noted that they stand by their work.

> Encol Construction just finished a major remodel project in our \>100 year old home in Denver. They re-created our master bedroom suite and two bathrooms that needed some major updating. The final project turned out beautiful! Brett and Sally were a delight to work with and there was always quick and easy communication. I would highly recommend them to anyone!

**Comment from Encol Construction:**

> Thank you! You and your husband were a delight to work with as well. Much of the reason this looks so nice is your good taste in tile and finishes!

## Community Q&A

**Q: Design help: great room niche** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I have a great room with a tv niche. I would like to mount a tv but the niche is about 2 foot deep. It seems like the tv would be too deep. Ideas on what to do with this space ??? At a loss

A: I agree with Julie, find a custom cabinet builder and have them install shelves that you can display books and perhaps some sculptures. I would consider having them build something that will hide the television when not in use. Perhaps try and incorporate the white on the fireplace mantel, make the walls flow together, even if you loose some of the space behind the television.

**Q: Need Help For Kitchen Layout** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Planning on renovating our kitchen and are desperately looking for design/layout advice. The kitchen is approximately 12/16 ft. We are removing the brick wall that you see to open the space up; however the back living room is a drop down. We have no problems moving electric or plumbing. The only window in our kitchen is over the stairs leading to the basement. My husband is thinking of blocking that section off and placing see-through cabinets in the area by the kitchen table. Any thoughts? (Please excuse the mess - after holiday - before cleanup) :)

A: For starters, I would consider removing the soffits and changing the lighting. While the photos show the entire room, it make a huge difference to actually be physically in the room. I would have a couple local contractors/designers come by and get their input on what you can do with the walls and layout.

**Q: Kitchen backsplash help needed ASAP please!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi! I would greatly appreciate some help with deciding on a backsplash for our kitchen. The granite that i picked it white delicatus and i absolutely love it but next to my antique white cabinets it looks cold and my cabinets look yellow. Im hoping there is a backsplash out there that will tie the two tigether and make my cabinets not so yellow and make my granite warmer! I took pics with artificial and natural light. Thanks for your help!

A: I agree with Lori Davis, you absolutely need some color.
