Working with Andrew was a joy! Our house was built in the early 1980's and it was time to update. We took the house down to the studs and then rebuilt with more modern construction materials. As a result we greatly improved the comfort level of our home- important because we live on the top of a mountain. We modernized both the outside and the inside of our home. Our first attempt at remodeling was disastrous, and we ended up having to terminate our relationship with the original architect. Andrew's drawings for our room incorporated all the design elements of the existing structure, down to the multi-paned windows all around our house. Another unusual aspect of our project involved taking extraordinary measures to protect a 140 year old white oak that is next to the addition. I am the architect for the project, and did not make the furniture selections. I can tell you all kinds of other selections for the project, just not the furniture. Happy Holidays! **Q: Is this actual stone or stone veneer ?** *(in Photo Questions)* If veneer can you tell me company and color? Thank You, CJ A: Hello CJ, We used true stone for this project. It was quarried tom TN. I do not use thin veneer stone as it is not that much cheaper (here at least), and there can be some issues with the product. It has the capacity to trap water behind it and cause serious water damage to a structure. Use drain plane behind the stone if you can. Also the material can fade a bit over time. They have gotten better, but still will have some issues over the long haul. IMHO real stone is still the way to go. On this project one of the more compelling things is that we made the stone "articulate" quite a bit. The stones project out 1"-2" in places really giving a dramatic look. I've been looking for window and floor trim, what style did you use to go with this and can you provide a picture? A: It would look great with that treatment.
