> Jill was an absolute joy to work with on the design of my new landscaping. She is prompt in her response and her knowledge of plants is second to none. She is both an artist and an architect in her design. I was thrilled with the outcome of her work. My backyard feels like a beautiful park garden with colorful perennials suited for my light and soil conditions. I can't recommend her highly enough.

**Comment from Jill Davis Design:**

> Mary, I really enjoyed working in your beautiful garden. We had so much fun in our joint collaboration. I can not wait to see it all this spring. You have the perfect setting to show case : trees, hydrangeas, and lots of fun perennials.
> Thanks so much for your kind words and the confidence you placed in me. I think we were an amazing team.

> Last year after 40 years, we ripped out all our tired evergreen landscaping in front of our house. For the past year we searched and searched for someone to take on our relatively small project -- 50 feet of planting. The landscape designers we called would come out to see our area and then forget about us. We wondered if the landscape gods were laughing at us because we removed everything on Earth Day. Then we met Jill Davis, and we are beyond thrilled with our new front yard!
>
> Jill is a delight to work with. Our first meeting, she spent most of an afternoon getting to know us and what we liked. Our front landscaping is tailored to our preferences, including the seasonal color we prefer and how much time we want to spend tending to it. She designed beautiful lighting for us for security as well as showcasing our new tree. She also suggested a reasonably priced watering system that we could install ourselves. It has been several weeks since the plantings have gone in, and we have received several compliments from our neighbors. Along with us, they are pleased with the results.
>
> Thank you, Jill, for the five-star effort! You and your team did an exceptional job!

> An amazing designer with stunning vision, working with Jill is pure joy. She provided an abundance of ideas and options as she designed the makeover of our 30 year old landscape. Working with what we like and didn’t like, and our level of plant knowledge, she always made us feel like we were working together. She was onsite the entire time that the landscapers were working, willing to adjust her plan as she saw opportunities to make every inch the best it could be.
>
> I highly recommend Jill - I am already planning projects for next year and the year after.

**Comment from Jill Davis Design:**

> Sue, I loved working with you and I think we were a wonderful team. I am so happy with the results of your "Makeover" I think it is just gorgeous. The outside now matches the inside of your house. I can't wait to work on your next project in 2024. You are delightful to hang out with. The best part of my job is meeting clients that inspire me to do my best. Thank you for all the confidence you placed in me and my team we all had fun on your project.

> Thank you Jill for all the work involved in transforming our front beds and paver walkway. We absolutely love the Brussels pavers with the added black stone edgin that you recommended, along with the plantings and removal of ground cover it is a complete update to our home and we love how it looks when we pull into the drive. We are also thankful that you and your team were knowledgeable and able to install French drains on all of our downspouts eliminating all water puddling around the foundation when it rains.
>
> Our back and side yard look wonderful too, your team was able to remove a huge tree that was diseased and nicely clean out dead branches and reshape trees which has made a huge visual improvement. We love how you were able to extend our existing berm to accommodate the installation of a beautiful fence and plant interesting new trees and bushes to enhance and transform our back and side property. We’re looking forward to enjoying your work for many years! We could not have achieved this without your design skills and awesome team who made it all happen! I highly recommend you and your team to anyone who is looking to improve and update their outdoor spaces. Well done!

**Comment from Jill Davis Design:**

> Jill was a pleasure to work with. She is very professional and really knows her stuff! We had a drainage problem in the front of our house and she solved it in a very attractive way. We loved her work so much that we then had her redo our back yard. We highly recommend her for whatever your landscape needs.

**Comment from Jill Davis Design:**

> Thank you so much.I really enjoyed working with you and making your garden and pool area as beautiful as your home. There were so many spots to add beauty and I love all the roses and hydrangeas we added. Thanks so much for working with me. I really enjoyed getting to know you and your husband.

> Jill is an absolute GEM to work with! I worked with Jill around a water issue we had with our sump pump in the front of my yard. Jill and her team came up with a wonderful design that fixed our issue and made it look beautiful and intentional. I had Jill come back to do some additional landscaping around my house. She listens to what you want and provides a one of a kind design with color and texture. So many people have commented on how wonderful my landscaping looks. I couldn’t recommend Jill more!!! She’s lovely to work with and so knowledgeable!!! She recommended a landscaping mister system for me since i joked that i hated watering. She helped me decide on what i needed to order and even came over to help me with some tips and tricks to install it. Jill is a gem!!!!

**Comment from Jill Davis Design:**

> Jill did an amazing job transforming our yard! Now I feel happy every time I pull into the driveway and see how beautiful everything looks. Her design is gorgeous and she used some very fun and interesting plants in addition to traditional favorites. I really enjoy the colors that she suggested to complement our house and I love the way that everything works together. She's a real artist and also extremely knowledgeable about plants and what will work well.
>
> I wanted something that looked good but was also very low maintenance and Jill really listened and worked with me to find the right items for us. Jill did a great job taking my input and using it to guide her vision for our yard. I love it.
>
> Jill and her crew definitely went above and beyond and she's been very easy to reach for questions and follow up. I'd highly recommend working with Jill.

> Jill was very personable and knowledgeable about which plants to use in my courtyard. She was very patient and truly cared about the selection of plants that would be appropriate.
> I love the plants she chose and live my new garden. I would highly recommend her services. You will not be disappointed! Thanks Jill for making such a beautiful area!

**Comment from Jill Davis Design:**

> Jill helped design our backyard with ideas for the trees I wanted and incorporating some of her ideas. One of the initial lilac bushes planted died within 30 days. I had to plead with her to replace it which she met with resistance but ultimately replaced it. Additionally, an expensive Norway Spruce that she installed died within 8 months of planting. I know that garden centers guarantee their plantings for 1 year. Jill refused to replace. So now I have a gaping hole in my garden design. Make sure you select a designer that guarantees their plantings for a year!!

**Comment from Jill Davis Design:**

> Nancy, I am so sorry you are unhappy . Just to clear this up - We did replace your lilac a few weeks after planting it. I replaced it because it "did not look good to you" it was absolutely not dead . I am so very sorry your spruce died 8 months after being planted. I offered you a tree guarantee. There is an extra charge for the guarantee and you had the option to pay for a guarantee and choose not to and I certainly wish you would have,

> Jill is amazing! She has completely transformed our yard from blah to beautiful. We know nothing about landscaping, and Jill came to our rescue with the most awesome design plan. She gave us the pizzazz we were looking for, with plants and flowers I didn’t even know existed. All work was done quickly and efficiently, and Jill’s expertise is second to none. She’s a sweet lady who loves what she does, and worked to make sure that we’re happy with the final result. I’ll recommend her to everyone I know.

**Comment from Jill Davis Design:**

> Carol, Thank you for this lovely review. I really enjoyed meeting you. We had so much fun working in your beautiful new home. We had a terrific time transforming it from tired to a garden that reflected you. You were delightful and I hope we get to work together again soon. Thank you so much. Jill

**★★★★★ — Lana Jo Barringer, June 2020**

> Jill made all of my landscaping dreams come true this spring! After years of trying to design my flower beds myself and wasting so much money on the plants that just didn’t work for one reason or another, I finally contacted Jill to help me redesign my front curb appeal. She did an amazing job! Not only was she wonderful to work with, but her knowledge and expertise is exceptional. Additionally, she implemented landscape lighting which really was a beautiful finishing touch to the job. I look forward to watching my garden bloom and thrive each season now, instead of the dread I used to feel thinking about figuring out a new landscape plan on my own. Thank you so much Jill!

**Comment from Jill Davis Design:**

> Lana, Thank you so much. I truly Ioved working with you and think we made a wonderful team. Your enthusiasm was the best. It was fun designing a garden to reflect you. The landscape lighting we added is awesome. Thanks again for trusting me. I would look forward to working with you again on any project. Sincerely, Jill

**★★★★★ — Ann Hamilton O'Reilly, Nov. 2019**

> Jill, your vision on my garden is amazing, and I want to thank you and you’re crew for the beautiful job they did. I could never have done this without you, and I hope that you will come back next spring and redesign the front of my house! Thank you Jill!

**Comment from Jill Davis Design:**

> Ann, Thanks so much for working with us everyone really enjoyed you & your super fun family. It was a pleasure being part of this makeover and I am very proud of the results. You were a very enthusiastic and knowledgeable partner. We can not wait to come back in the spring and create an entry garden of your dreams. Thanks again. Your Garden Designer, Jill

**★★★★★ — Kari M, Nov. 2019**

> We hired Jill to completely redesign the front and both sides of our house and we could not be happier! We did not have a lot of ideas of our own so relied heavily on her (obvious) expertise. Jill was very patient with us, showing us lots of pictures to get an idea of what we liked and didn’t like. Less than 2 weeks later, we met again to go over her design sketch and proposal and the work was completed the following week.
>
> I love that Jill chooses “hard working” plants that look good throughout the changing seasons, change colors, bloom multiple times, etc to keep our yard looking it’s best year-round. The landscaper she works with dug out our 30 year-old shrubs, planted, mulched and cleaned up in one day. Jill was there the whole day helping out and making sure everything was done to plan. We went from bulky, Yew shrubs lining the house on all sides to beautiful, clean, interesting landscaping.
>
> After the job was finished, Jill even recommended an inexpensive watering system for us, put together a list of all the parts we would need for it, AND created a sketch of our garden showing how we should layout the system. Jill definitely went above and beyond. I would absolutely recommend Jill (and have!).

**Comment from Jill Davis Design:**

> Kari, Thanks for this lovely review and for trusting me with your garden makeover. I really enjoyed working with you and your husband. We made a good team. I agree the final design is perfect for updating your curb appeal while adding lots of beauty and interest to your garden throughout the year. I am so glad I had the chance to meet you and truly enjoyed the project. Thank you. I cannot wait to see your garden this spring there should be lots of surprises. .

**★★★★★ — Peggy L, Oct. 2019**

> I hired Jill to give a refresh to my current landscaping. I loved working with Jill! She spent a significant amount of time with me to get a feeling of my likes/dislikes, and to learn exactly what I was looking for. She came back with a plan which we reviewed together and agreed upon. We agreed on an installation date and she was there the entire time ensuring everything was what we discussed and she took the time to explain how to care for the newly installed shrubs, plants, etc. I love how everything turned out! Jill and her team are wonderful and would hire them again in an instant! Thanks Jill!

**Comment from Jill Davis Design:**

> Thank you very much, Peggy. I really loved helping you makeover your entry garden and mailbox garden. You had great " garden bones" we just needed to punch it up a bit. I think you will have a longer season of interest and lots of new blooms to enjoy next spring. I am sure you are looking forward the gorgeous hydrangeas and new roses we planted. Plus- the new cool mailbox garden will look interesting and very tailored all year long. Thanks for trusting us and can't wait to do the backyard with you next year.

**★★★★★ — Cami T, July 2019**

> Jill is amazing to work with and we couldn't be happier with how our front landscaping turned out! I had very specific requirements based on my preferences and the strong, direct sun we get in the front and what plants would thrive in that environment. Jill's expertise and recommendations were invaluable! She was able to "get me" and understand my style and desires in one meeting and delivered exactly what I wanted! Being a total gardening newbie, she was so helpful in teaching me about my new plants and how to care for everything. So pleased we decided to work with Jill and would recommend her in a heartbeat! Can't wait to work with her again.

**Comment from Jill Davis Design:**

> Thank you Cami. I loved the results of our joint efforts and was so happy you were thrilled with the results. Your house now reflects your beautiful and very tailored style. Thanks for the confidence you placed in me. It was a fun project.

**★★★★★ — Kim Aldana, July 2019**

> Jill is enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and very fun to work with. She took the time to learn what we liked and the amount of upkeep and care we were willing to spend on our new plantings. She incorporated our ideas and opinions into a beautiful, but practical design. The design is fresh and modern and enhances the uniqueness of our 1970's ranch style home. We love it!

**Comment from Jill Davis Design:**

> Kim, I loved working with you. You guys were delightful and as enthusiastic as they come. I am so happy I was able to find the perfect trees at the perfect time to complement the design . Enjoy your new 'Gingko' and very cool 'FullMoon 'Japanese Maple. Thanks for trusting me to create this gorgeous garden.

**★★★★★ — Nancy Armstrong, Feb. 2019**

> I first used Jill for my garden design on my old house - 12 years ago, and I was extremely happy with the job -- and every year afterwards, my front garden kept getting better! So I called her again last summer for my new house. Once again, I was delighted with her ideas, her expertise, her honesty, and the professionalism of Jill and her crew! She transformed my front area immensely! (The whole neighborhood is commenting on it!) Her work was done on time and right on budget! I'm having her do my back yard this summer.

**Comment from Jill Davis Design:**

> Thank you. This was a really fun project. The before and after pictures tell it all. Thanks for trusting me with your garden. I love the plants we selected and the retaining wall we installed to define your tree with beautiful shade plants. You guys did a great job adding your railings. I think we are a wonderful team. I can't wait to work with you again.

**★★★★★ — Kathy Bowman, Aug. 2018**

> Working with Jill is so easy and fun! She listens well, has a great eye and is incredibly enthusiastic - which is contagious. We have done several projects with Jill Davis Design and she always exceeds our expectations and ingeniously leaves us wanting more!

**Comment from Jill Davis Design:**

> I really like working in your garden. If, I ever retire I will still come over and trim your super hydrangeas. It's wonderful to be apart of all the seasons of interest. I love doing the winter containers, spring bulbs and summer containers too. Thanks for being a blast.

**★★★★★ — Kathy Fabsik, Aug. 2018**

> Jill Davis is a very easy to work with. From the start she listened to what I wanted to achieve in the front of my house. She used her expertise in choosing plants that would work well with what I already have. She also took some of my plants and moved them to other areas to enhance the property and show off those plants. On the day of installation, she was present from the start to the finish to guide the crew where all plants were to be placed. I would recommend Jill Davis Design to anyone who wants a beautiful landscaping. I would use this company again without hesitation!

**Comment from Jill Davis Design:**

> Thanks so much. I loved working on your gorgeous garden. What great "garden bones" you had when we began- it's absolutely amazing. You were a pleasure to collaborate with. I am very proud of the work we did together. . I would really enjoy another project with you.

> I couldn't be more pleased with the beautiful design, and the quality of plants and work that was done on our landscaping. Jill took a very drab and overgrown area in the front of our home, and changed it into a very warm, beautiful and inviting entryway that I am now loving, and no longer embarrassed to have people walk up to my home. Jill is a lot of fun, easy to work with, and dedicates herself to creating a wonderful space.

**Comment from Jill Davis Design:**

> I loved working with you Mary and had a blast making your really large entry beautiful for you all year round. It now matches the inside of your lovely home. I can't wait to start on the backyard this spring.

**★★★★★ — Sheryl Wolf, Dec. 2017**

> I worked with Jill in the spring. She redesigned my front landscape and installed an amazing watering system.
>
> Jill was just fantastic! She had awesome ideas and picked out plants that I would have never considered on my own. As a result, my front landscape is full of color and fun plants that are 'hard workers'. Jill planted the most incredible rose bushes I have ever seen. I would look out my windows everyday at those rose bushes and this year they were still blooming in November!
>
> I would happily recommed Jill for any landscape design project large or small!

**Comment from Jill Davis Design:**

> You were so much fun to work with and I loved your excitement and interest in everything we selected. Thanks so much for the job and I think we had fun and created something great together.

**★★★★★ — Katie Simmer, Nov. 2017**

> I needed to add some curb appeal to my front yard and Jill did just that. She listened carefully to my ideas, made suggestions and explained what I could expect of the plants we chose. In addition, Jill supervised every step of the planting and periodically checked back with me to make sure that I was satisfied. The result was a beautiful front yard that fit my style perfectly. I can’t wait to see my yard come to life next Spring!

**Comment from Jill Davis Design:**

> Really enjoyed working with this client. We had a really good time selecting easy care trees, plants ,and shrubs that give lots of interest throughout the season.

**★★★★ — Sandy Drizd, July 2017**

> Jill worked with us this Spring to come up with a design for our pond and backyard that grows more lovely and lush as the days go on. She was wonderful to work with and listens to learn what you want, but at the same time directs you to plants that are best for you. She knows her plants. I love her philosophy...."make the plants work for you!"...meaning they must bring beauty to your garden at each stage of the season. We are looking forward to working together again.

**Comment from Jill Davis Design:**

> I really enjoyed working in your amazing garden. It was so much to select all the plants together and introduce you to a few new cultivars. Your project turned out perfect and I can't wait to see it all come up this spring.

**★★★★★ — Gretchen Farb, June 2017**

> Jill was great to work with. She took time to understand our needs and to plan beautiful beds for our yard.the project was complete last month and she stopped by today to check on everything! She also went above and beyond to create a beautiful fairy garden for my girls. We loved working with jill and will have her back for future projects!

> I just completed a large front yard renovation with Jill and couldn't be happier.
> She has a great eye for design and really knows which plants will work in your setting and give you the maximum impact.
> Jill designed not only the garden beds but also hardscaping, including a new brick walkway and new driveway. Her client communication is excellent - I seldom had to wait more than half an hour for a response to any question or concern. She was on site the entire time for the plant material installation to make sure everything was perfect. Her crew was neat, efficient, and professional. And she made sure I was 100% satisfied on completion. I continue to get compliments from the neighbors on how well the project turned out. I would not hesitate to hire her again for future projects.

> I loved working with Jill. She made sure her design fit my wishes and needs. She also made sure the plants would fit my current design and most importantly - the unique micro-culture of my garden - part of which is like a bog. I've worked with three other professionals before who weren't nearly as knowledgeable about the plants and the environments in which they would be placed. As a plus - she was fun to work with.

> This was a very fun garden to design. Limited space but I think we made every inch exciting. and I loved working with this client. I really enjoyed her enthusiasm for cool new plants. Thanks Christine!

> I came across Jill Davis Design while browsing through landscape design photos on the Houzz website. I decided to contact Jill to get some help updating our front yard landscaping. I found her to be extremely knowledgeable, professional and enthusiastic from the very beginning. Jill did not just "update" the landscaping but gave us a front yard that I absolutely LOVE! Throughout the design process, Jill made sure to take into account what we like and worked hard to create a space that we can enjoy for many years to come. We are looking forward to having Jill transform the rest of our yard in the future!

> Jill is a very enthusiastic person to work with and has plenty of good ideas. Her work crew is the best I've ever used. Her plants were amazing, perfect, healthy, large. They were so much better than the stuff other people planted for me years ago. She knows which plants will do well and which ones that are not worth the effort. Jill personally supervised each specimen that was planted. If it was not just right, it was replanted to her liking.
>
> Everything looked beautiful for the remainder of the summer and I'm anxiously awaiting to see my PJM rhododendron and tree peony in full bloom this spring. Jill and her crew were a delight to work with. We received so many compliments from the neighbors on her work.
>
> Her work was finished in a timely and professional manner. She was over budget, but I understood the reasons for that.

**Comment from Jill Davis Design:**

> Loved working with this client. It was a joy to collaborate with such a plant lover. We had so much fun planning.

> Jill redesigned and planted three different areas in our yard. She really listened to what we wanted, gave great recommendations, and completed the work well. Jill has a real heart for making her clients happy and a passion for beautiful landscape. She is responsive and has answered all of my questions without making me feel foolish. She has encouraged me to experiment in my yard on my own too. Soon after we started working together, my mom passed away. Jill was so kind to make our family a meal and plant a special plant in my mom's memory in my new garden. Jill is someone special! I highly recommend her and plan to use her again for future projects.

> Jill created a design that really transformed our yard. She listened to our ideas, and then created a personalized design for our front garden beds. She worked within our budget and had the project completed on schedule. Jill also outlined a maintenance plan for us to follow to keep our plants healthy and to keep them blooming through out the spring, summer and fall.

**★★★★★ — angarnoult, Dec. 2014**

> Jill will keep working until you are happy with the end result! Her team is respectful and hard working as well.

**★★★★★ — Leslie Ferris, Dec. 2014**

> Jill helped me take my yard from old and tired to clean and beautiful. Her design gives me something fun for every season. Especially in the spring my neighbors tell me they love driving by my house. I will hire Jill again and again. :)

**★★★★★ — mel2jxk, Dec. 2014**

> My wife and I are novices when it comes to landscaping, but needed to do something with the front of our house. We like DIY projects, but the more we researched landscaping, the more confusing it became. I met Jill when she was conducting a learning seminar at the local nursery. She was very knowledgeable with seemingly all varieties of local plant life. Most of all, we liked her style and approach to each and every project. She works with her clients closely to come up with amazing landscapes they want while adding her great sense of style to each project. We could not be happier with how the front of our house looks and can't wait to do more. We will be using Jill for many more projects in the coming years.

**★★★★★ — rmaxb39, Nov. 2014**

> It was a delight working with Jill Davis. Jill's knowledge is very extensive and impressive. Jill listens to your vision of what you want your garden to become, all within your budget and time frame "a real professional". My garden went from very plane to "look at me now".!!!!

> Jill Davis Design has planned many gardens and designed numerous pots for me through the years. They are all so different no matter what time of year. She does ask what I want or would like, yet I trust her to just create. She is quite a master. A few years ago, I wanted to update my holiday decorating "inside" my home. I was not quite sure what I wanted. She knows what I like and got busy! It was truly spectacular! I would highly recommend her for any design I your garden, pots and holiday for ideas that are most unique.

> Jill designed a new landscape design for the front of our two story home. She spent a great deal of time listening to my ideas and offered suggestions for what would look good in this area. Together, we poured through catalogs, selecting the right varieties and colors of shrubs and bushes. This was indeed a team effort where my input was valued and respected. Jill drew up a plan and enthusiastically carried it out with her team of workers. My husband and I are happy with the updated look that Jill was able to provide.
> It was a delightful experience, and we would hire her again!

**★★★★★ — sandyswoik, Nov. 2014**

> Jill provided landscaping and garden design services for our yard & gardens. Her plans were very detailed and suitable for our spaces. Besides her great ideas, she also has a vast amount of knowledge and expertise in her field. I can't wait to see how lovely the spring gardens look, where she planted 2200 bulbs!!! She also created an awesome view out of our family room windows incorporating 5 types of hydrangas for fall colors. Jill is very attentive to your needs & wishes. She uses the best plant materials available & her staff works efficiently & being respectful of your existing gardens. Jill is the best!!!

## Community Q&A

**Q: Yet another ground cover question** *(in Landscape Design)*

I feel like a beggar asking another ground cover question but I can’t seem to be convinced by anything I find online so asking knowledgeable people here is most helpful. This area (250 square feet) has been a bed of something or other for a long time and I’ve just cleared it out (process still a little ongoing). It’s on a south facing slight slope and you can see by the pitiful grass that the area gets burned. As of now I’m liking the idea of an Exclamation London Plane tree in the center of this circle but I’m much less sure about a ground cover. Some contenders so far are a creeping juniper (kinda slow no?), sedum Angelina (I read here it grows fast, not in love with the idea but maybe with some large rocks placed around and another ground cover with it could be cool), cotoneaster (maybe dammeri idk, I had a couple cranberry cotoneaster here before and thought it had an appeal and spread quickly though not weed smothering), winter heath (i think I see this at nurseries and always looks dead to me but it seems like people have a cult following for it or something, the pictures I google of it do look nice but those are also the most idealistic ones, maybe paired with seedum idk?).
I have maybe a few other ideas but I’m really not attached to any particular idea and open to any suggestions. It’s a large area that will get more shaded in time as the tree grows but should be some time before the light conditions significantly change. This whole side of the driveway just gets browned every year, this year it happened as early as June so I don’t think shrinking the circle to plant grass is the best idea. I like the idea of the whitish bark on the plane tree in the winter being surrounded by something evergreen or with berries and just being something walking neighbors anticipate before coming up on it. Thanks for any help you can offer.

A: 3 Humming Bird Clethera Great fragrance, fall color, and usually deer resistant and you could fill in the space between the clethera with Carex ‘Ice Dance’ it would look very tailored and beautiful with your new fancy tree.

**Q: Show us your 2021 Christmas Decor.** *(in Other)*

We’re going to have a beautiful Christmas this year with friends and family. Oh, yes we are and no gloomy allowed.

A: Getting ready for Christmas. \#JillDavisDesign

**Q: need container plant recs for covered porch** *(in Landscape Design)*

Hi! I live in Austin, and I’m looking for a plant (or two) that I can put in these cement pots. They’re never in Direct sunlight but they do get indirect sunlight/partial shade. I’m looking for something that can stay out most of the year. won’t die in the winter (or look wilted and sad). I’d still bring it in if it’s going to freeze. It’s a tall order and I haven’t been able to find anything that fits the bill. I know someone brilliant out there can recommend something :)

A: I am a garden designer but I live in Illinois- so I am not sure about Austin- however if you buy what is perennial in Austin you will not have to move it in and out if there is a freeze. Just make sure your container is bigger than the plant. Maybe find a small ornamental grass.

**Q: Nice design!! What kind of hosta is in the background!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Wow! That looks amazing! Is that large hosta slug resistant? Or how do I keep it from getting eaten?

A: That is a 'Blue Angel' and most of the newer hosta are slug resistant. Do you have a place for this? I would love to bring you one

**Q: gazing ball anchor** *(in Photo Questions)*

How did you anchor the ball to the ground? Or did you fill with sand?

A: Actually the bowling balls are heavy

**Q: Backyard patio/ landscaping help needed!** *(in Landscape Design)*

Need some ideas!! Few photos of the back of our new home below, followed by a color coded drawing I did (don't laugh!). Let me know what you guys think about each. Trying to keep costs low but want to make this a great area for entertaining guests. We have the ultimate privacy as the side (left of home) and back of the home are essentially all trees.

Red Area of drawing below: Simply looking for pavers in the grass to connect to the fire pit area to the covered patio. Would also like some landscaping options up near the actual home. Those 3 windows have a great view, so we don't want to block those.

Yellow below: Looking at some finished concrete or maybe stone flooring, simply extending the flooring from the covered patio to give us more space. The area where the fire pit is in this photo would be use for an outdoor dining table instead. Our patio isn't as wide as this photo but would be the same layout.

Green below: looking for a nice little bonfire area. Fire pit will likely be purchased online, looking for a wood burning pit. Would like to understand prices on a nice little circular area of some sort. Maybe small pea gravel or sand or something. What do you guys suggest here that is efficient in price? I imagine small rocks are much cheaper than pavers/concrete correct? Would need a tall post put in to connect bistro lights, similar to the photo.

Also any good ideas for a bar/countertop kitchen area? We would put this under the covered patio to help add privacy to the neighbors facing north. Just a 8-10 foot straight line similar to below. Would like to put some wood above to add more privacy. I don't need any high end grill/burners/etc.

A: You might want to pay someone for a design! Looks like a lovely home and the curb appeal will suffer if you do not do a professional job. Just give the designer a budget and find someone who will stay within it. You could really be wasting money if you try and do it yourself. As a garden designer who is willing to be respectful of any budget- you'll save money doing the job right the first time.
