**Q: bathroom mirrors** *(in Design Dilemma)*

what style  mirror would look the best with a traditional bathroom vanity

A: Sounds lovely! You could keep with a traditional style mirror and add some interest with this bamboo finish:

**Q: Caesarstone concrete** *(in Building a Home)*

Has anyone used Caesarstone concrete countertop lately?  I'd like to use it in my kitchen, and have seen some older negative comments.  I love the way it looks, but want to make sure it's a practical choice.

A: Do you have kids? Cook/prep a lot? Although concrete is an awesome look I typically only specify it for projects where the kitchen is used more for look and less for actual use, i.e. bachelor pads. Concrete can crack and is easily susceptible to stains but if you use cutting boards, clean up any messes quickly and wax monthly to ensure the sealant is effective, concrete is manageable. Caeserstone in particular does a great job ensuring functional design to their product line!

Should I skip the rug or put a rug under my dining table. Looking for opinion and examples of rugs that might go with my table

**Q: Shelves, empty space, or what?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

This room needs....help. I'm considering floating shelves on either side of the fireplace, but I don't want it to feel too....full....cluttered. Thoughts?

A: Hi there! If you'd like to keep your TV where it is because it's the only space that works in the room (although agreed with others that it's a bit too high), you can explore the idea of adding built in bookshelves to the right and left side. There are a lot of great DIY videos for doing it yourself or they can be custom built of course. This will help you to keep the mantle and the hearth clear and to put toys and trinkets in baskets. Also, definitely would recommend adding white sheers to the windows to help ground that wall space. If the built-in's are too pricey, maybe just adding a lower cabinet on each side would work. Good luck!

**Q: board and batten or shakes?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I am trying to decide on siding for my house.  We will be doing 6 or 7" horizontal white vinyl siding with accents
(probably on the dormers) in either board and batten or shakes also in white.  Any suggestions?

A: I would vote for a mixture! Board & Batten is beautiful but should also be a highlight to your home. Perhaps focus on B&B for the slanted roof accents!
