A 4 month project turned into 18months of disappointments and deceptions. Had to hire another contractor to finish and fix all of their mistakes and shortcuts. We got taken. He took our money and never did the work. He didn’t answer phone or email messages. We had to take him to small claims court and he didn’t even bother to show up! I would NEVER recommend Avid Construction. Run, don’t walk! Calls and texts go unanswered and if he does answer it’s only to give excuses and drag it out further. I’ve lost count of dates given and no one shows up. Avid has NO respect for your property! His crew used my personal items and left my property unsecured on numerous occasions. Many broken items in my home. He will not return calls to the city building department. I have received letters from sub-contractors about non-payment from Joe! I’ve had to hire an attorney and will have to turn to the courts to right all of Avid Constructions wrongs! Dealing with Avid Construction was the WORST contractor decision I have ever made! Part of the project included dry walling our bedroom, At the time my husband questioned how they were installing it since it seemed haphazard to him. This week a crack appeared in the ceiling. The crack is along a seam. After looking at it closer my husband found that it was not taped prior to the mud being applied. > > I would not recommend Avid for any type of project. We had to question the quality of workmanship several times because we thought it was not acceptable (i.e. a very visible hole in the wall, dishwasher installed improperly, crooked outlets just to name a few). We had to bring in a service repairman on our own to fix the dishwasher. Ultimately, we found this entire experience to be unprofessional. Avid aims for complete customer satisfaction, construction quality was very good, and project site was maintained neat and orderly. Avid Construction provided carpentry work to drywall the inside of the shed, put a large removable window in and granite counters on the inside and outside. The project was supposed to take 3-4 weeks--not 3-4 months! Many problems: leak into kitchen ceiling below, marble panels cut too short and filled to with excessive caulk, foam pieces used to fill in hole instead of marble piece (which we corrected later), and the hot/cold water control was installed improperly so we could not get hot water when they left. They then send another contractor to correct it. Too many imperfections to mention here. Several times we were told they would be here at such a date and time and they did not show up or even show enough professionalism and courtesy to call and let us know. Some of Avid's employees should be ashamed of their lack of respect for the customer.
