> Ms. Teresa, from Houston Custom Carpet, was such a delight to work with. We worked so well together, I felt, to bring each of our ideas together. I thought it would be such a small job but I didn't realize how many different tradesmen would be needed. The custom cabinets turned out beautiful and the tile man worked his magic and the painter/texture guys, electrician, counter fabricators and general construction men were all so respectful and cleaned up before, during and after. I would highly recommend them and looking for the next project to work together with.
> We changed out two vanities adding more ample drawer storage and changed the direction of the tub and adding a pony wall.
>
> I am very pleased with the entire project!!

**Comment from Houston Custom Carpets Flooring & Remodeling:**

> Thank you for giving us the opportunity to make your design ideas come to life. It is always amazing to watch a design go from pencil and paper to an actual room that you can walk into and live your life. We appreciate your patience and interaction as we moved through the process.

> Had LVP floors installed, felt and saw lifting between some of the boards within a couple of months. Let them know immediately, they redid a lot of the flooring. Months later same thing starts happening again. They said it was a manufacturing issue. Manufacturer said if there is something wrong with the product they will have it fixed. Manufacturer got with them, they agreed to send out a 3rd party inspector. Inspector said the issue is due to installation, gave the report to both parties. Houston custom carpet said all they will do is sale us more flooring 50% off and we can pay to have another company install it. Before having our floors done we never had a single issue with them (floors were great from 2004-2023) and now the owner Bill is trying to go against the report saying the foundation shifted and it’s not on them, he is also sticking with it being a faulty product despite the inspection report. We trusted our home with them and I regret that decision everyday

> One star because no option for no stars. Houston custom carpets relies on the homeowner to monitor their subs. No one from Houston Custom Carpets verified any work unless I called them about poor workmanship and then most times just resent the same contractor.
>
> Had to file a smalls claim case to get them to meet contract requirements.

> We had a bedroom converted into a master bath. This bath included a custom shower, claw foot tub with a Telephone Style faucet, new plumbing with double sinks set in custom marble atop a custom vanity with a tower in the center. We also had new tile on the floor to match the shower with a frame-less glass door.

> Teresa Chittenden was our designer and job coordinator. The job went smoothly from the initial material selection to the final installation. We had a tight schedule and Teresa worked hard to make sure everything dovetailed properly to achieve our time line. With everything being custom the opportunities for trouble were numerous but Teresa came through with flying colors. We couldn't be happier.

> Master bath renovation with new travertine tile shower, cabinets with marble counters, lighting, change of one sink location, stand alone tub, faux painting, and travertine floor. Tim Smith was the general contractor and I highly recommend him for his in-depth knowledge of all facets of building contraction and real estate. Tim kept the project on track and on budget. He gave the project his personal attention details and demonstrated high standards with a focus on quality.uston

> Tim Smith was recommended by a neighbor based on their project, we highly recommend Tim Smith at Houston Custom Carpets.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Kitchen Design Help** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I am designing a kitchen for my apartment, I need to have 15cm (area marked in red) so that the fridge door can be opened. What type of cupboard do you suggest? Will 15cm be sufficient to create a broom cupboard? Thanks!

A: Are your cabinets full overlay doors? This helps to determine what it can be. If you have a full overlay pullout....you will need a small spacer to the left so it will not scrape the wall coming in and out.

**Q: What about this coffer?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Putting the finishing touches on my dining room. I need to step back and get a second opinion about the coffer over the dining room table. The ceiling has a large expanse. Do you think I should paint the interior of the coffer? If so, one or two shades darker, or
do you envision a different treatment or leave it alone?
Thank you Houzz Community!

A: I have painted several areas like this lately in a soft sky blue. It seems to be very refreshing. I don't seem to like darker over my head.
