> Aggie (Agnese Purvinska-Aggie Designs) Helped me to reimagine my Brooklyn Condo.
> From paint to floors, doors, lighting and a complete new kitchen and bathroom, Aggie helped transform a cheap builders special condo into a sophisticated tasteful home, raising the value and increasing its functionality. I had my own ideas and she worked with me to make them even better while also adding her own. Now I have a kitchen that more than accommodates my storage needs and has given me more room to maneuver in while adding only a couple feet in dimension.

> We hired Aggie to help us choose paint colors for our apartment and to help with the design of our living room space. We could not have been happier with her advice. The layout of our living room had been causing us a headache since we moved in. Aggie came up with the perfect solution that incorporated all of our wishes for the space. She also found fantastic furniture ideas that fit within our budget. The space came out great!

> Aggie is a pleasure to work with. She is extremely professional, enthusiastic and hardworking. She is also very skilled at what she does. I would highly recommend Aggie to anyone looking for design services.

> I would recommend Aggie to anyone needing thoughtful interior spatial design. She was very prompt for any clarifications on the project, knowledgeable about the design intent of the project and was a pleasure to work for. I had a few questions on the assembly of the interior components of the project I wasn't familiar with and she directed me to the correct items with ease vs. a "just put something here" response I've had from others in the past. Aggie's designs are well thought out, planned and executed.

> Aggie is such a pleasure to work with--she actually reached out to me on houzz after I posted some questions in a discussion and took the time to email me some sketches. I then realized I could really use some professional help and advice and we hired her to design our kitchen, our laundry room, our master bathroom, and a fireplace area--and they all turned out wonderfully! She was very available to give me her advice and insights on items I was looking at purchasing, which was so nice because I had so many decisions to make in a short period of time. I am so grateful to have found her and have kept in touch--I do plan to use her services on future projects.

> I hired Aggie Designs to help me achieve a complete makeover for my apartment. We focused specifically on the living room and were going for a Hollywood Glamour theme. Aggie was one of the nicest people I have ever met. She was so accommodating (and we were not easy clients as we kept changing our minds!) One of the best parts about working with Aggie is that she had a vision for the space that I would have never been able to come up with on my own. She was filled with excitement, enthusiasm, suggestions and was able to come up with many new ideas as the project unfolded.
>
> Aggie provided me with several options for floor plans. One of our biggest challenges was making the best use of a small space. She had such a thoughtful eye, helping us add small touches that tied the space together. She held my hand every step of the way and provided me with many ideas for where to purchase the items, always cognizant of my budget. With her help and inspiration, I was able to transform the space into exactly what I had hoped for.
>
> I found Aggie to be highly professional while at the same time sweet, friendly and so easy to work with. I would highly recommend her for any project, small or large. I would be happy to provide a more in-depth evaluation for anyone wishing to hire her company.

> I am renovating a 1900-built/multi-family house in BedStuy, which includes gutting the owner's duplex and creating an eclectic space that embodies historic charm with contemporary creativity. Within the framework of my renovation project, my general contractor/project manager brought in Aggie to design the kitchen and bathroom and advise on the overall spaces in the top floor of the duplex.
>
> Aggie has shown a deep knowledge and understanding of architecture and professional design, and has come up with creative solutions that I absolutely love. She has the ability to think 'outside the box', but to go back 'in the box' if and when needed! She fit in perfectly with everyone involved in the project, and proved to be a true team player. She was also very helpful in sourcing materials/appliances and getting the best prices. Aggie has a sparkling and outgoing personality, and has been an absolute delight to work with!

> We have worked with Aggie more than once, our first project was a small kitchen remodel in Bronxville, NY. She was extremely budget conscious although we knew her background was in high end design. She supervised construction and was easy to reach and she answered all our questions. We put our house on the market and sold it within days despite recession. We decided to hire her again for our new brownstone remodel in Brooklyn.

## Community Q&A

**Q: hello Big problem small kitchen dilemma!!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I’m having the hardest time putting this kitchen together !
I would appreciate all the help I could get! I cannot change the countertops or floor! As this is a condo , that I do own , but still cannot change because they are brand new , but the cabinets were not changed and it costs to much to replace them! So do I just replace the handles or paint or stain the cabinets?

A: Or if you're feeling frisky, wallpaper! Pottery Wallpaper

https://www.finestwallpaper.com/store/p4793/Missprint\_-\_Great\_Leaf\_Wallpaper.html

**Q: Compensation for wrong cabinet color.** *(in Paint)*

I ordered custom kitchen cabinets from a reputable local maker who’s been in business for decades. They’re beautiful but the color is not what I specified. It was an SW color but they had to mix as a custom color due to it being a lacquer paint process and SW got it wrong. Since the cabinet maker did not verify the color, they are now installed and repainting is not an option. Thankfully it is close and I like it, but would obviously prefer the color I spent a lot of time choosing. What sort of compensation should I ask for? The total price was $13,000 installed. I have paid 2/3 of that so far as installation is not quite complete.

A: The color is fantastic. Pay the man. The other color would have read duller and this one is so much more fun and whoever said more period appropriate, I agree with you.

**Q: What wall color goes with yellow tone oak cabinets** *(in Paint)*

Hi there! I am not a huge fan of yellow walls, but the cabinets in our kitchen have a yellow tone to them... What other wall colors would go with these cabinets? (Not willing to paint the cabinets) Thanks for your input! (Please excuse the mess!)

A: Hazy Lilac from Benjamin Moore

**Q: I need to add a screen type back door, that is wrought iron** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Have existing full glass door back door. Dogs make a daily mess of the glass. Want to add "Screen type door (minus screen)" to protect glass. Would like door to be stylish and allow existing door to be left open at times.

A: That sounds lovely. It may have to be custom made locally.

**Q: shallow depth cabinets** *(in Remodeling)*

We understand that standard cabinet depth is 24 inches, but we are completely remodeling our kitchen and in part of the kitchen the wall comes out 6 inches. We want the countertop to be the same depth all across the wall so on half of it the depth would be the normal 24, would it be a problem to have 18 inch depth for the other half? We will have 12 inch wall cabinets all across the top.

I hope this makes sense! Here is a rough drawing of the walls of my kitchen, you can see on one side the wall changes six inches....

A: You should put shallow open shelves instead of cabinets on the right from the microwave. It will break up the monotony and won't stick out in your face as much:)

**Q: Support for a waterfall 9ft bar** *(in Home Repair)*

Do I need extra support for a 12inch over hang? we have a 9ft bar (sketch attached) one side will have the stone go about .25 into the wall and the other side has the water fall.
Do I need any support for this? Person installing says it should be fine.. but Im worried.

A: GC could still probably fiddle with that back panel and put something in still (an L bracket).
