**★★★★★ — Eric Banks, Feb. 2018**

> Emily is truly amazing. Her design work was exactly what we were looking for, the materials she selected were spot-on, and her ability to understand our vision for the kitchen without our being able to describe it fully ourselves shows how skilled she is. Her works stands on its own, but to find someone as enjoyable to work with as Emily is a huge bonus.

**Comment from Studio Em Interiors:**

> Thank you for the kind words Eric, it was truly enjoyable working with you and Jennifer on your project. I am so glad we were able to make your vision come to life and have some fun in the process.

**★★★★★ — Jennifer Banks, Jan. 2018**

> We can't be happier with the design and guidance Emily provided for our kitchen renovation. My husband and I had ideas for what we wanted, but we weren't exactly on the same page. Emily was able to find compromise between us that resulted in elements and design that we liked better than what either of us had initially picked out. She was also able to introduce design features that we weren't aware existed that got us closer to the feel we wanted while staying within our budget. She was able to suggest design elements that gave us the most impact for cost. She was so easy to work with and got along great with our general contractor, often acting as a liaison between us, which helped a ton with overall communication during the project. We look forward to working with her again when we renovate our master bathroom.

**Comment from Studio Em Interiors:**

> Thank you so much for the kind words Jennifer! I absolutely loved working on your project. I look forward to the opportunity to help you remodel you master bathroom!

**★★★★★ — Kathy Brown, Oct. 2017**

> My husband and I are so fortunate to get Studio Em Interiors for the remodel of our master bathroom! Very professional but personable adding the touch that fit our personality. We had an idea of what we wanted and Em put it to paper and did just that. She brought all materials to our home for us to see and feel and helped us design the bathroom we had envisioned. We are thrilled at the way it all came together. Thanks Em!

**Comment from Studio Em Interiors:**

> Thank you so much for the kind review. It was a pleasure working with you on your bathroom remodel. I am so glad you are enjoying it!

**★★★★★ — User, March 2017**

> We're very happy with the design work that Emily did for us. She understood the look that we had in mind and recommended a great blend of colors and styles from the floor to the cabinets to the window treatments and trim that works well. We had to keep a section of flooring for budget reasons and she was able to tie colors and textures together from the all-new and this area that resulted in a seamless look. We had some preconceived notions from all the remodeling shows on TV and she fully explained why some of those ideas would not work for us. She also created the drawings needed for the City and our permits sailed through with little fanfare. We are thrilled with our remodel which touched about 75% of our floor space.

**Comment from Studio Em Interiors:**

> Hello John and Peg, thank you so much for your kind words. I had a wonderful time working on your remodel. Your home took on a huge transformation. The layout itself was a challenge when we started. I am so glad we were able to give you a space that is both functional and beautiful!

**★★★★★ — Utton Photography, Feb. 2017**

> Emily did the remodel design for our master bathroom and Kitchen. We were very pleased with Emily's designs and the way she worked with us the contactor and also with the window treatment supplier. The designs were spectacular and we appreciated the way Emily stayed involved with the project, start to finish.

**Comment from Studio Em Interiors:**

> Thank you so much for the kind review Greg. It was wonderful working with you and Janice. I look forward to working with you again in the future.

>
> Emily was very professional and was receptive to our ideas before making recommendations which were always very creative. There was honest give and take and she always had good ideas which fit with our lifestyle and design sense.
>
> She was very patient and gave us samples of everything we had picked out. She produced professional drawings and a bill of material which guided the contractor to give us exactly what we wanted. Emily was always on time and met each schedule commitment.
>
> We could not be happier with Emily's services and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a true design professional.

**★★★★★ — Julie Wise, April 2016**

> Emily is wonderful to work with. She is very professional and very good with the details. She is very creative and excellent with color. We were sad to see the project end because we had so much fun working together. When friends and family see our house for the first time, they say "Wow!" What more could you want?

**★★★★★ — Robin Leach-Bowling, March 2016**

> Emily from Studio Em Interiors is the best.
> She is professional, detail oriented, and really listens and gains a vision for what you wish to do with your space. She also delivers top notch design advice and solutions. She worked on my kitchen and dining area and I couldn't be happier. There was an issue with some dining chairs we selected and she got right on the problem and got a solution immediately. I would recommend her work to anyone.

**Comment from Studio Em Interiors:**

> Thank you so much for the kind words Robin. It was wonderful working with you on your home. I hope we can collaborate again in the future!

  - Location: Tempe, AZ
  - Photos: 7
  - Description: For this project, we completely reworked the floor plan of this master suite to enlarge the bathroom and make room for a walk-in shower and freestanding tub and give the bathroom some more privacy from the main bedroom. We also moved the entrance to the bedroom to a hallway and not off the main living space giving privacy to the entire suite.
- [Lakeside Rebuild](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/lakeside-rebuild-pj-vj~1667224)
  - Location: Sun City, AZ
  - Photos: 9
  - Description: This was the first official project when Studio Em Interiors was "officially" started. Not a bad project to start with as we demoed the entire home and rebuilt it from the ground up. We kept the main and more permanent features of the home neutral and added pops of color throughout in accessories and with my clients handmade quilts. My clients were a dream to work with. It is very exciting to see this project finished. At the same time it's sad to know I won't get to work with these two wonderfu…
- [Tempe Transformation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/tempe-transformation-pj-vj~2305115)
  - Location: Tempe, AZ
  - Photos: 12
  - Description: This remodel began with a challenge. An older home that had previously been added on to with a layout that just didn't make any sense. The home seemed pieced together over time and there was no rhyme or reason to anything in the space. The layout was not functional at all. We began by completely re-planning the layout of the home to bring function and a good traffic flow back to the space. This included moving and removing walls, raising ceilings, and re-configuring the layout of bedrooms. This…

- [Master Bath Makeover](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/master-bath-makeover-pj-vj~2309359)
  - Location: Mesa, AZ
  - Photos: 5
  - Description: In this Master Bath makeover we completely transformed an older, outdated space into a luxury sanctuary for the clients. We updated cabinetry and reworked the tub/shower area to allow for a larger shower space while still keeping room for a soaking tub. We added a sliding barn door at the master closet to improve the use of space in and out of the closet. It also added a warm touch to the space with the wood from the barn door complementing that of the cabinetry.
- [Earth Toned Master Bath](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/earth-toned-master-bath-pj-vj~2692175)
  - Location: Mesa, AZ
  - Photos: 9
  - Description: In this master bathroom remodel we brought the elements of the earth into this tranquil space. Glass tile accents and a shaker door style modernize the look of the bathroom while the pebble tiles and beige, stone like porcelain tile in the shower introduce elements of the earth into the space.
- [Modern Industrial Kitchen](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/modern-industrial-kitchen-pj-vj~2805443)
  - Location: Tempe, AZ
  - Photos: 8
  - Description: This kitchen was transformed into a modern industrial show piece. Custom touches throughout gave it an industrial feel while still keeping the space feeling warm, modern, and inviting.
- [Glamorous Master Suite](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/glamorous-master-suite-pj-vj~2791722)
  - Location: Tempe, AZ
  - Photos: 13
  - Description: In this project we spent most of our time designing the layout of the space. We added/removed windows from the space, completely changed the layout and took space from the neighboring bedroom to expand the space we had to work with in order to create a large walk in master closet. The client was very involved with material selection, choosing her favorites and then meeting to narrow and refine selections when needed. In the end we had a layout that delivered all of the clients wants and needs an…

## Community Q&A

**Q: Herringbone floor!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you advise of the type of tile you used please? Thank you!

A: Hello Ashley. The tile used in this bathroom is no longer available, but it is similar to this tile from Fireclay Tile https://www.fireclaytile.com/tile/sizes/detail/tile-field-3-x-12 This is a nice ivory/off-white color, but Fireclay Tile has many many color options for this size tile.

**Q: What color of pain it that?** *(in Photo Questions)*

love the paint color

A: Hello, thanks so much! The paint color did turn out very nicely. We made a change to the paint color during construction and I don't seem to be able to find my record of which color we switched to. The project was from a while ago, but I'd be happy to reach out to my client and contractor to see if either of them has that record. If I'm able to find it I will update that here.

**Q: Any idea what the dimensions are for this shower?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Any idea what the dimensions are for this shower?

A: Hello, yes this shower is 4'6" x 4'-0".

**Q: the window sill decorative tile..** *(in Photo Questions)*

it looks as tho the window sill decorative tile is cut too long, the backsplash of the sinks decorative tile should be covering the end of window sill decorative tile so you don't see the end of the sill tile.

A: In person it is a very clean look to the edge, I am sorry it is not to your liking. These particular clients love the look and it is incorporated throughout the space for a cohesive modern look. It is a very common way to cover the edges of tiles that do not have bullnose available and cannot be mitered in a clean way.

**Q: backsplash dilema - help!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hello! Which backsplash do you think it goes better with my brittanica counter tops? I really like the herringbone with the gray but I’m afraid it will be too busy - I’m looking for a cleaner look. Here are the pics of the two options

A: Hello. If you are looking for a clean look, but like the herringbone pattern then I would go with a herringbone patterned tile in a plain white with a lighter grey grout. This way you still get the herringbone pattern you like, the grey grout will help bring out the pattern as well without looking too busy and the grey will tie in with the veining in your counter top, and you will have a nice clean and classic look.

The choices you are currently choosing from don't quite achieve what you are stating you would like the final look to be. The white tiles with the grey veining are too close to the look of the countertop. It will look like you were trying to match them and didn't succeed. The grey in the herringbone will give you a much more busy look then it sounds like you are wanting. I would stick with the herringbone pattern, but use a plain white tile.

**Q: mixing small kitchen appliance colors?** *(in Polls)*

waltersd925

What about mixing small kitchen appliance colors? I already have a dark red coffee maker and toaster that are fairly new but, I love aqua KitchenAid stand mixer. Is it cool to have small appliances in two different colors? I do have both aqua and red in my Fiesta Ware, but they are behind solid doors and not on display. I do have a few small pops of both colors like an aqua stool and blue-green glass pendant light. All of my large appliances are stainless.

A: I think mixing colors in a kitchen can look great when done correctly. Small appliances in a color are a great way to add pops of color to your kitchen without the color becoming overwhelming. You will want to make sure the colors you choose to mix coordinate well with each other and don't mix too many colors or it will be too much. Stick with 2 or 3 accents that you really love. It sounds like you already have the 2 colors you are considering in your dishware. Even if that is normally hidden behind cabinet doors, when people are over and you are using the dishes it will all still coordinate together. I say go for it. A mix of colors is fun and will make you happy about your space.
