Vater Construction has been proudly serving the northwest Indiana community for nearly a decade. With a true love for building, the business started out with a focus on residential carpentry. Over the years, word of mouth and a strong reputation of quality craftsmanship and professionalism led the company to expand to large-scale remodeling projects and eventually, new construction homes.

In addition to being one of few construction companies in Northwest Indiana with experience in Universal Design, owners Eric and Anne Vater are among a small group of builders in the immediate area who hold both the Certified Aging-In-Place Specialists (CAPS) and Certified Green Professionals (CGP) designations through the National Association of Home Builders.

Focusing on the accessibility of homes started as a necessity. In 1999, Anne Vater became disabled as a result of a car accident. The challenges she faced living with a disability in a traditional home presented an opportunity to learn about accessible products and design features, and reveled a lack of expertise in the knowledge and execution of accessible solutions.

Both Anne & Eric earned their CAPS designations and began building a new home with all of the features to meet her current and future needs. Countless hours were spent with contractors and designers to plan and build spaces that were aesthetically pleasing and would remain functional over time. They have since streamlined this process and incorporate these attributes in all projects and designs.

Vater Construction continues to build a portfolio of plans to meet the needs of your family. Whether remodeling or building a new home, they have an exceptional team of architects and designers who can help guide you through the process and make sure that you will be happy with your home for years to come.
