I chose Peninsula because they were so responsive, plus the recommendation of my contractor neighbor. First words on the phone was them telling me how many weeks out their availability was. Every time I called, someone was there or called right back. They were on time, they knew when they would start and finish, and they did a good job. The forms were set more accurately than I expected. The crew was rather casual about leaving fallen soil in the footing trenches or too close to steel, so I was out there in the evenings digging it out, but that's probably typical construction and I'm just really neat. They left the site clean including the street and my walkways, no spills. Estimates and invoices were all processed very quickly and everything was well documented. Drainage was recommended as this foundation was facing uphill. > > We chose peninsula concrete as most other concrete companies we ended up contacting were not local (to Redwood City) -- and hence due to transportation their costs were higher than local companies (incl. Peninsula). Among the local companies, a few were landscaping companies who were happily bidding low with a fine point that concrete for the draining would be "thin". Bay area's soil (for most parts) can easily be called as concrete slab's nightmare -- usually cracks develop soon if slab is not create with care and following proper procedure. > > We are glad we went with Peninsula.
