> An unsightly crack appeared on our 5 year old granite counter top parallel to the sink. Another crack appeared behind the faucet. We thought replacing it was our only solution; however, a contractor (Mike Rogers) suggested we try Intex Surface Solutions.
>
> Raymond came out and assessed the situation and gave us an estimate for repair. The job was completed by Raymond and Robert in an efficient and timely manner. We are extremely pleased with the results. Raymond matched the coloured filler to the existing granite with great results. He and Robert finished sealing all the surface edges which meet the backsplash.
>
> We would highly recommend Raymond and Robert of Intex Surface Solutions.

> Marble and Marble referred me to Robert and Raymond from Intex Surface Solutions. I explained to Robert my marble floors had two cracks due to foundation shifting. I was concerned they couldn't be repaired. Robert reassured me not to worry and he sent his best

> Intex was recommended to us by our builder to seal our marble ensuite floor and kitchen backsplash once we had finished building. Raymond and his crew have been out twice: once to do the original sealing, where we asked them do all of the caulking and silicone in all of our bathrooms as well; and again to do some touchups and replacements after our house had settled over the winter. Both times were fantastic experiences: on time, professional, friendly, honest, clean and most importantly, knowledgable. Our daughter has an extreme sensitivity to chemicals and neurotoxins, and Raymond was extremely receptive and helpful in order to keep the process as safe as possible for our family. We will continue to use them for our semi- and annual maintenance needs.

> The gentlemen that came to our house to do a marble refinish were very professional, patient in their task and gave us a terrific job. They were so clean as they prepared the job, did the job and finished the task....they even had a dyson to clean as they proceeded. I said gentleman because they were so polite and just did what they were hired to do. I would highly recommend this company.

> I love the natural looks of stone and wood, they are beautiful. For that, I requested my architect to integrate as much stone and wood as possible into the design of my new home. He did, he created a beautiful home for me. He chose beautiful marbles for my floors and showers and chose granites for my countertops, backsplashes and the bar. His creation is beautiful, very beautiful. During construction, he protected the finished floors with paper then hardboard and plywood. After construction is completed and the floor protection removed, I was stunt to see that my floor is ruined! There were remaining tape, grout and glue on my marble floor from construction everywhere! There were stains from coffee and tea too. I was much sadden by the scene. I hired cleaners and they used 'Goof Off' and plastic wall scrappers trying to clean the floors. That was not successful because the majority of the dirt did not come off and the floor area is too big for the operation. Just before I gave up I went to the website and was lucky to stumble into INTEX surface solutions. It caught my attention because of their 'Stone care guide'. It was my luck that I contacted Robert of INTEX. I briefly explained the situation to him over the phone and he came to take a look. In our short meeting, I was totally bought by his knowledge. He assured me the floor can be restored and he also explained and recommended to me that I should also seal all the (marble) showers. I decided to have him doing the work because I trust him and his price is very reasonable. That was a great decision on my part to trust the job to him because Robert and his crew are very knowledgeable. They did their work meticulously, cleanly and with heart. Now all my showers were cleaned and sealed and my floor is restored, sealed and shine! What a beautiful floor and what a beautiful experience. I do owe Robert and his INTEX crew for such a great job. I do want others who need to have their service to know about INTEX Surface Solutions because they will be happy to have chosen them too. I have already requested Robert and his INTEX crew to come and acid clean the exterior of my new home off the cement and mortar streaks, seal the flagstone in the front steps and seal the stone on the driveway and patio early summer. I am really impressed by their knowledge and Robert's good and honest recommendations (for the good of the customer and not only for getting more business). Thank you Robert, thank you INTEX. Thank you for the spectacular job. Thank you for your skills, working with heart and going extra steps for the breathtaking results. I cannot ask for more! Thank you.

 - Location: Not specified

 - Description: Counter top was originally a semi-polished patina finish. The high gloss finish made etches, scratches and other wear patterns very visible. Our long term solution was a deep honed (dull) finish for this naturally vulnerable material. Once honed etches will be less visible and a thorough application of penetrating sealer will make the surface resistant to etches and prevent permanent staining from wine, oil and other contaminants common in a kitchen.

## Community Q&A

**Q: which color did you use here? what type of wood?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Im looking at staining a double deck and love the look!

A: Hi Casey,

I believe that is "Rustic Brown" by Armstrong Clark on Cedar wood.

Here is a link to their product page...
https://www.armstrongclarkstain.com/armstrong-clark-stain-1-gallon

Here is a link to our actual photos of their stains on cedar planks, it should give you a better sense of the pigment once dried and fully penetrated.
https://intexsurfacesolutions.ca/exterior-wood-wood\_stain\_colours/

It's worth noting that the stain is still wet in the photo, once dry it would be less yellow and a little bit darker. Nevertheless a popular colour and one of my top picks.

**Q: Why do so many GCs think Soapstone is porous?** *(in Kitchens)*

Have to ask because so many of you are so certain that soapstone is nonporous, heat resistant, stain proof, etc., why is it that when I mention soapstone to GCs in my area (So. Cal.), they cringe and say it's porous and a bacteria breeding ground? Love the look, but I'm wary.

A: Hi Frieda, realistically no blanket statement will every truly be valid for most stones due to the endless possible mineral compositions. Needless to say, in my 15+ years of going into homes daily, working hands on, the most common soapstone we encounter are of the soft variety, and it serves this thread to warn of this potential softness. Nothing can replace a homeowners own research and testing when visiting suppliers, let's not even talk about all the etched "quartzite" counters we repair.
