**★★★★★ — Scott Tombleson, Oct. 2021**

> We would recommend Don's work without any reservation whatsoever. He is simply fantastic to work with. He showed up when he said he would and completed the job a day early. We appreciated his guidance and collaboration as much as we did his fine work. He helped up move a bit outside of our plan and the results are stunning. His fine art background certainly helps in this regard. Honestly felt like he loved our new home as much as we do.

> He's your painter, or at least he should be.

> Don is fast, careful and conscientious. We have had him paint our entire downstairs and he's been great. He makes useful suggestions and is easy to work with in every way. The paint job looks great; we feel like our house is getting a whole new life.

**★★★★★ — Laura, April 2021**

> We hired Don to paint a large bookcase, two shiplap feature walls, and to touch up numerous walls, doors, and trim. He did an outstanding job. Everything looks flawless. Don is a delight to work with and I cannot wait to have him back for the next project.

**★★★★★ — Tanya Whiton, Nov. 2020**

> We hired Don to paint our living room and bathroom, and the results are GORGEOUS. Our building is old - 1906 - so there isn't a straight line or a flat surface anywhere, and he managed to smooth out all those lumps and bumps and bring out the beautiful construction and character of the rooms. We'll definitely bring Don back in to paint the rest of the rooms as our renovation proceeds - he's friendly, responsive, and a total pro.

**★★★★★ — Kelly Valdmanis, Nov. 2019**

> We are so happy a friend recommended Don to us. Our 1900 home was in desperate need of an interior paint update, that including fixing plaster on various walls. Don is a professional with a keen attention to detail. He has a great understanding of color and can help with recommendations. His original estimate of time and cost was spot on at the end of the job. After he finished, he followed up to see if we needed any 'touchups'. We couldn't be happier with his work.

> We hired Donald to paint living room, kitchen and master bathroom.
> Had great tips on picking colors and appreciated his knowledge with his artistic background for some of our upcoming painting projects.
> Very thorough and very meticulous.

> Last summer we hired Donald to paint some areas around our kitchen after we’d done a small renovation. He was meticulously clean, executed what we needed perfectly, and his attention to detail was so appreciated. I’m a neat freak so I have high standards! My boyfriend is a contractor of 20+ years and said that he’s never seen a painter do such quality work, so efficiently, and at such a fair price point. We were very impressed and will most definitely ask for his expertise again!

**★★★★★ — Laurie Mitchell, May 2019**

> Donald has been our go-to painter for the past several years. He does excellent work, is attentive to details and is meticulous. And he's a really nice guy! We highly recommend Fine Line Studio for you painting projects.

**★★★★★ — Jessica Harrison, May 2019**

> Don was a pleasure to work with. He did a beautiful job painting our newly renovated living room, kitchen and bathroom, on time and on budget!

## Selected projects

- [Logan Circle, Philadelphia](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/logan-circle-philadelphia-pj-vj~5702072)
  - Location: Philadelphia, PA
  - Photos: 2
  - Description: These stenciled accent walls are baroque inspired and add an elegant touch to this Philadelphia brownstone. The pattern was hand drawn and cut by me. I used a semi gloss finish to contrast the flat wall paint which gives the pattern a flash of reflective light.
- [Knightville Dining Room](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/knightville-dining-room-pj-vj~5711197)
  - Location: South Portland, ME
  - Photos: 1
  - Description: Hand painted stripes in this dining room create a wall paper effect. I used an analogous cream palette with my signature gold pin stripe accent.
- [South Portland Living Room](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/south-portland-living-room-pj-vj~5711210)
  - Location: South Portland, ME
  - Photos: 2
  - Description: This chevron stripe was a special request for a medium sized living room. Using the two different grays, I created a bold, modern, and playful feeling in cozy, lived in space.
- [Freeport Wine Cellar](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/freeport-wine-cellar-pj-vj~5702078)
  - Location: Freeport, ME
  - Photos: 10
  - Description: I created this technique for this job. Without giving away too much, the paint is applied with different types of paper and I have used this technique a lot since. The builder wanted an aged look to compliment the raw plastered walls of this wine cellar and this is what I came up with.
- [West End Portland Home](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/west-end-portland-home-pj-vj~5702086)
  - Location: Portland, ME
  - Photos: 8
  - Description: The dining room is a textured distressed finish consisting of multiple layers of paint creating a flaky and chipped paint look. The subtle use of warm and cool colored grays adds a lot of depth and texture to the room. The powder room is a faux silver leaf with a tarnished finish. The koi fish motif was borrowed from a wallpaper pattern and is hand painted. I treated the ceiling with a square leaf effect contrasted with the rectangle sheets on the walls.
- [Cape Elizabeth Cottage](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/cape-elizabeth-cottage-pj-vj~5694693)
  - Location: Cape Elizabeth, ME
  - Photos: 4
  - Description: I had a lot of fun working with the home owner to create these finishes. The dining room is a distressed Lapis and gold motif with a ancient Greek design stenciled throughout the room. The stencil is hand made and designed to fit the scale of the room. The living room is inspired by an ancient Egyptian pattern and is also a hand made stencil using a light blue and beige palette.
- [Pennsylvania Farmhouse](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/pennsylvania-farmhouse-pj-vj~5702083)
  - Location: Valley Forge, PA
  - Photos: 4
  - Description: This project started with a newly built bedroom closet. The home owners wanted an aged look that was slightly distressed. Using milk paint as my material, I glazed the whole unit in a dark brown, then finished with an off white. The milk paint provides a durable, matte finish that is environmentally friendly.
