Their word is their bond. Our project was to build a Casita & Lanai that, friends and family could stay in, while we live in our Motorhome which is parked in Myakka River Motorcoach Resort in Port Charlotte, FL. Construction started in April of 2022 and needed to be completed by December 2022 per HOA guidelines. > > NOTE - Hurricane Ian struck this area September 28th. COVID was still causing issues with building materials shortages. All of this worked against completion of our Casita & Lanai on time by Crane Construction. > > Rhonda and Greg were extremely easy to work with. This is a small hands on construction company that pays attention to details. To a point Greg Crane is a true craftsman. Some examples of COVID causing building issues: 1. Concrete was in short supply and the wait time for delivery by truck was too far out for the foundation. Crane Construction brought in concrete and mixed it themselves, on site, in order to stay on time for completion. 2. Roof truss manufacturers had waiting times of more than 6 months to deliver. Crane Construction took it upon themselves to have engineered new trusses and built them on site in order to meet the timeline needed. The new trusses they built actually gave our Casita more height and an improvement over what we could have gotten by a manufacturer. There are more examples but this needs to stay short. > > Hurricane Ian’s eye struck Port Charlotte which is where our Casita & Lanai were being built. The Crane family and their employees all were impacted directly as well as all of Port Charlotte. Within two days of Ian passing the Cranes were in assessing our damage to the Casita & Lanai. While the Casita & Lanai survived the hurricane “undamaged” it was almost impossible to get into the job site due to debris and flooding making roads impassable. Electricity and water were impacted dramatically. However Rhonda & Greg took it upon themselves to overcome all of these obstacles and get construction back on track. > > At the start of this I said we were very blessed to have hired Crane General Construction. Please take a look at the photos we have included below. The Casita & Lanai are a testament to Rhonda & Greg Crane’s professionalism. Framing, vaulted ceiling, exterior door and windows. They were always there when they said they would be, kept us informed of issues caused by are engineer even while we were on vacation. It was a much more complex project as everything down to the plumbing and electrical needed to be replaced. We initially had multiple contractors bid our project and decided to go with Crane because they provided a fixed bid that was competitive but fair. We also chose Crane because the owner was managing our project and it wouldn't be passed along to someone else. While he used subs for some of the work, his team handled much of the project. He was very communicative and available throughout our project. > > By the end, almost every inch of the house was touched including our upstairs full bath, the kitchen, flooring, painting, lighting, and our downstairs 3/4 bath. This involved removing a wall and putting in a beam to open up our downstairs. We also added additional projects along the way to bring our stairs up to code and re-vamp our fireplace. The project involved gutting our upstairs bathroom and about half of the downstairs down to the studs to update all of the plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc. In the end, our home is absolutely beautiful and we couldn't be happier. > > Greg was an absolute pleasure to work with. He holds himself to high ethical standards, is incredibly patient and did amazing work. When we weren't happy with something, he listened to our concerns and made the adjustments. We set expectations at the beginning of the project that our top priority was that the end product had an impeccable finish and Crane delivered.
