> We hired Shane Andrea of Alcova Construction for a full home remodel after checking references and hearing glowing feedback. Shane was personable and seemed trustworthy. At first, demolition and some early work went smoothly.
>
> Over time, his jobsite presence dropped, quality declined, and corners were cut when we weren’t there to watch closely. This wasn’t just bad workmanship — it became a pattern of dishonesty.
>
> The turning point was our kitchen marble. We purchased over $20,000 in custom Italian marble and had it delivered to Shane’s chosen fabricator. Shane oversaw delivery and reported no problems. Later, when the countertops were to be installed, we were suddenly told the slabs were cracked and ruined. The damage occurred after delivery, under Shane’s oversight.
>
> At first, Shane admitted responsibility. But when it came time to fix it, he refused to file an insurance claim, replace the slabs, or reimburse us. We had to hire a new fabricator to salvage what little we could and purchase entirely new marble at our own expense.
>
> Worse, just days before telling us about the damage, Shane asked for the countertop installation payment early, even though no countertops had been installed. We paid him, and only then did he reveal the slabs were destroyed. It’s clear he knew and wanted to secure payment before we found out.
>
> We tried to move forward, but he soon asked for another early payment for tile work, even though it was only about 60% complete. When we said no, he pulled all crews off our job and refused to continue unless we paid early again.
>
> We hired a new contractor to finish the remodel. Shane’s response? He sued us for breach of contract, despite leaving us with dozens of defective and incomplete items.
>
> By then, we had:
> Paid Shane over $185,000
> Spent $250,000+ more fixing and finishing the work
> Been left with unsafe, unfinished work, some still being repaired today, including having to remove brick to install missing drywall

> This wasn’t just a contractor who made mistakes. It was a pattern of deceit:
> Taking payment before revealing catastrophic damage
> Demanding more money before work was done
> Pulling crews off the job when challenged
> Leaving us with financial devastation and years of repairs

> If you are considering Alcova Construction or Shane Andrea, please reconsider. We trusted him with our home and were left with incomplete work, mounting costs, and a lawsuit for standing our ground.

He went above and beyond to make sure everything turned out like we had dreamed!
