> Krista created a beautiful landscaping design plan which we are taking in phases. She listened to our ideas and created a great plan. Last year we start phase 1 with Krista and another crew. This year we are starting phase 2. We look forward to our spring and summer with a beautiful backyard!

**★★★★★ — stmoritz09, Aug. 2021**

> I could not have selected a better company than Petros to design and create my outdoor living area. Between the two of them, Krista and John managed to take a bare piece of land and turn it into a beautiful oasis. With Krista's knowledge of plants and her ability to visualize an outcome in design, and John's expertise at selecting just the right stone for the project, and where best to place it, I now have a beautiful and welcoming space in which to relax while listening to the sound of the waterfall, as well as entertain family and friends.
> I highly recommend Pretros and plan to use them for future projects.

**Comment from Petros Design:**

> Thank you for your kind words and recommending our company.

**★★★★★ — sandidykes, Jan. 2021**

> Petros Design is a company that has integrity, is creative, and hardworking. John is an expert in Natural Stone. Our yard has stunning rock creations. Krista has been designing for me for many years. We developed a design to ease me into the best years of my life. The garden is my dream come true. It is a social milieu where we have had weddings, annual garden parties, and even garden tours. I cut three to four bouquets each week in the spring thru fall. There are even flowers in the middle of winter. The raised vegetable boxes produce all year. They are framed in stone and I can sit down and pull weeds.
>
> The garden is a pollinator, bird, and butterfly sanctuary. There is a bird bubbler and a waterfall that buzz with life. The garden has bulbs and plants from all over the world. The Cottage Garden is a peaceful retreat. There are pictures of my garden in the Petros Design Project files. God has blessed me abundantly with Krista and John.

**Comment from Petros Design:**

> Your project has been a joy in our lives for years. It is a garden or surprise and joy.

**★★★★ — Lisa Jones, Jan. 2021**

> We had a new construction home with a blank canvas back yard. But there were challenges, a four foot tall slope along one fence line and a shallow drainage "ditch" thru the middle of the backyard! Krista came and listened to my ideas about a rock river, natural bridge, flagstone walkway and zen garden appeal and then perfectly translated my ideas into a beautiful, functional design. She, John and their team transformed our back garden into a peaceful paradise.

**Comment from Petros Design:**

> We love your new outdoor space. It was so much fun getting to channel our energy into a Zen garden for such an amazing family. Do not forget to add your agates to the creek for the grandkids to search for. I want to see pictures of the babies playing.

**★★★★★ — PNW Happy, Jan. 2021**

> Petros completely revamped our courtyard with beautiful flagstone and central natural stone fountain—our family calls it our “zen space”—cozy and relaxing

**★★★★★ — taniascruggs, April 2020**

> John is amazing with design and completing anything with stone. He knows stonework. A master! I’d definitely recommend him! We’ve used him now on 3 different projects. Hardscape including a water feature, the most amazing mailbox this side of the Mississippi and stonework on the house.

**Comment from Petros Design:**

> The property is starting to look good around your amazing new house. We are looking forward to working with you in the years to come.

**★★★★★ — Superior Stoneworks, March 2020**

> Krista does an amazing job at landscaping! We have worked with Petros Designs for over 12 years at our residence as well as our business. She's helped us with placing water features and private gardens. She is very knowledgeable across the board. Her work has added so much value to our properties. The company is very creative with their hard-scape and stonework as well.

**Comment from Petros Design:**

> You guys are amazing at what you do and we love working in your garden and having you provide all our granite and counter top needs.

**★★★★★ — Clara Chambers, Dec. 2019**

> Hired to do a yard redesign. Found the initial design plans very helpful in understanding the complete plan. Work occurred on scheduled dates. Very responsive to queries and concerns. Neighbors love the changes and quite a few cars have been stopped to look at the new design. Plan to work with them as needed in the future.

**Comment from Petros Design:**

> WE loved working on your sweet little home. We are looking forward to the last couple phases to finish the beautiful flower garden.

**★★★★★ — Deborah Wright Packer, Sept. 2013**

> We downsized and needed to improve our outdoor space for entertaining and for our own enjoyment. We were very happy with Krista's plans. She did a great job incorporating the things we asked for. She was very involved with the landscape team, making sure they were following her plans. She was excellent in the follow up after the job was completed. She totally changed our front and backyard. We live across the street from our neighborhood park and as we are sitting out front or working in the yard, we get so many compliments from people passing by. If we want to really impress them we show them our backyard too. We highly recommend Petros Design Center! Thank you , Krista!!!

**Comment from Petros Design:**

> It was a wonderful to work with the two of you. Your place is beautiful and works well for your lifestyle. I love that it brings you so much joy and peace.

**★★★★★ — shelleygeil, Sept. 2013**

> Wonderful to work with, listened to my requests and incorporated those into the design. Great communication, extremely knowledgeable about what would work well in our backyard and climate.

**★★★★★ — roxy0525, Aug. 2013**

> Krista Lawrence was an inspiration in designing a renovation plan for the NW Natives Garden at the Wildlife Botanical Gardens in Brush Prairie, WA. Her knowledge of native plants to the NW was instrumental in providing the correct placement for the plants. Krista was the project manager over this renovation including a new alpine garden, pathway and installation of a pond. The garden is thriving and looks beautiful.

**Comment from Petros Design:**

> This is a shout out to all the great volunteers at our local up and coming Botanical Garden. Everyone go visit. Better yet lend a hand.

**★★★★★ — camilemmon, Aug. 2013**

> Landscaping our 3 acres was completely overwhelming for us and we could not have done it with out Krista's help! She was great to listen to our ideas and put together a design that fit our families needs.

**Comment from Petros Design:**

> Thanks for the review. It was wonderful working with all of you. I look forward to working with you in the years to come.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Needs curb appeal** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I live in Virginia and this area to the left gets full sun. I want to get rid of the scraggly rose bushes and replace with something with color all year long. I want to keep the crepe myrtle and the euonymous below, but need something to create a more put together look. The two circles in the last picture are where I need help. Any suggestions?

A: My first reminder to my clients when selecting plant materials is to select the foliage first. If you want evergreen maybe try something like Andromeda (Pieris). Choose one with a nice foliage color in the spring and a floral display to follow. Maybe add some winter / early blooming heathers (Erica). Then you could put in some Iris or even lower ground coverings. Maybe a small tree for some structure in the space a bit of cooling in August.
REMEMBER: Foliage is there far longer than flowers. Good Luck

**Q: Where are these "balls" from, please?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Most of these types of natural stone spheres are imported from China or India. You will need to find a stone company that carries imported items. There can be exceptions. Rock Mountain Products in the Redmond, Washington area carried them. If you are in our area.

**Q: Curb Appeal Needed BIG TIME!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

What would YOU do?

We are likely putting an offer in on this home tomorrow. It would be our first time owning a home. We have a young family of five. I've always dreamed of living in a farmhouse, and although this doesn't hold the original charm of one, it is on five acres in the country and we are excited about its potential both inside and out.

But the outside is definitely crying for some help, and I wouldn't know where to start. So, help?

A: I also took a look at your ideabooks. I love clients that have your organization. You will do very well to hire a designer for the landscape and outside space organization. You are ready to get the best work from any designer working for you. It is very clean in this space. You need a connection between the drive and parking area. I would create a gathering area in the front. I suggest this since I am assuming you are going to have horses and other animals. So space will be required for the shops, barns, coops, and the Hoopla. You must have room for a small tractor:) I can not see the property as a whole however. It will require a site visit to truly see what is going on.

The front space (if sunny all day) could incorporate raised garden beds, blueberries, fruit trees like apples espalliered for a quaint transparent fence effect. This could be around an outdoor kitchen and an outdoor fireplace with a very comfortable seating area. stone veneers could be used on elements of the farmhouse and outdoor seating areas as well.

Good Luck. I am truly excited for your family. We live on a small farm in SW Wa. and our 4 kids love it. I hope your blessed with hours of kids chasing chickens, fresh veggies, and a little dirt everywhere. Happy thoughts!

visit http://www.stonenw.com for stone ideas and thin veneer stone blends developed in the NW for the NW.

**Q: What is the decking material?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: excellent installation. Classic.

**Q: Facade needs a "Facelift"** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I recently bought this home. It's only 8 years old, but needs some work. I love the inside, it's got good bones. However, the outside doesn't seem to reflect the inside. The old owner had some crazy ideas. I would like the outside to be more contemporary/MCM looking. I will be removing all of the landscaping in exchange for more geometric, clean lines. I also plan on changing the front door and sidelights. Right now the door looks like it belongs on a Victorian home. My biggest issues are the 1) shutters, 2) posts supporting the front door overhang, 3) landscape support walls, 4) the ugly garage. I grew up in a very organic mid century modern ranch, and would really like to capture that feeling if possible. Help please?

A: I agree more with libradesigneye above. I think along with the house makeover. Fix the ENTRY. Why contractors pour that ridiculous little concrete walkway from the garage corner to the front door... I will never know. It is not very nice to any home. If you create a larger front entry from the street and increase the front porch like listed above (a little craftsman) it will really create a much better "feeling". So much better than entering the GARAGE. Give the front door a chance against the garage.
p.s. - use stone. Just differently and in an updated design.

**Q: Ranch House Redo** *(in Before & After)*

Relocated the garage door, which allowed us to "fill in the 'L'" and have some fun with the roofline.

A: very nice!
