Is this floor American Olean Danya Basin?** *(in Photo Questions)* A: Yes it is!! It is a stunning pattern, one of my favorites. We installed it using Silhouette grout from TEC. **Q: TEC Power Grout Mist** *(in Photo Questions)* Hi, what shade of med. grey is Mist? Blue or green undertones? I found Sterling too beigey and Silverado a tad too light. Thanks! A: Oh that looks awesome!! And it was my pleasure to help!! Enjoy your new space :) **Q: Wood look tile risers** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hi. I am considering doing my entire bottom floor in wood look tile. Can these tiles be used on a staircase as well? A: One concern with putting the tile on the steps is the finished edge. You will need a product called Reno-Step from Schlueter systems. It will hide the raw cut edge of the tile. Although these are metal they are available in an array of colors. This may be a bit more "industrial" looking than you want. Also make sure the installer is putting concrete underlayment on them as well or you will get cracks over time and it can also cause grout issues. When the concrete board isn't used the moisture of the mortar needed to hold the tile in place gets absorbed into the wood step and therefore the tile isn't adhered properly. And tile, no matter how textured it is, becomes slick when wet. Keep in mind anything that falls on it will break, not to mention it will be hard to clean if it has too much texture. You may consider a nice short patterned carpet instead of the tile. It would wear like iron and look pretty too. www.tuftex.com has some fabulous choices. Good luck with your project and Happy Houzzing!! **Q: Cleaning floors** *(in Design Dilemma)* Best way to clean stone floors Crevices seem to hold dirt. A: The most important part of keeping build up from happening in the crevices is to always make sure the mop is clean when it hits the floor. We recommend a bucket of cleaning solution (do not use to much detergent as this can build up as well or leave a sticky residue for dirt to stick to), then each time you dip make sure you have rinsed the mop in the sink first, not in the bucket. Only a clean mop should touch the floor. To remove the existing build up you will have to scrub with a stiff brush. Also, most cleaners say they are no rinse, but I always recommend a hot water quick rinse to remove any lasting soap or dirt. A steam mop can also be used, but don't forget to constantly rinse the mop head or you will just be spreading dirt around vs. taking it off. Once you get it back to clean you should be able to maintain it easier following these steps. Happy cleaning!! **Q: Clean kitchen floor grout** *(in Design Dilemma)* How A: If your grout is stained beyond scrubbing, then I recommend a grout paint. You can go to www.thisoldgrout.com and purchase this product fairly inexpensively. It also seals it at the same time so that stains can't absorb anymore. It's a simple process, and it looks natural, and it will bring it back to new so you can start over. Happy cleaning!! **Q: Love the white wall tile!
