> 5 years later we happily chose Steve to build a second home for us on Nantucket.  To be honest, we never thought about going with anyone else after our first experience where Steve built a home for us in Squam.  This project was more complicated as it involved tearing half of a house down and moving the other half to the front of the property as a cottage plus a 5br home and 2 car garage.  Once again, Steve provided a top notch foreman in Chad and very strong subs - especially our framer Chamba.  The experience was again very fair and the work was outstanding.  Communication is great and surprises don’t happen.

> Following a competitive bidding process, my wife and I hired Cheney Brothers to build our vacation home in Nantucket. We had previously built four homes so we were somewhat experienced with this type of project. It was a large project involving an architecturally designed four bedroom home and a detached garage with an efficiency apartment on the second floor. To sum up our experience, Steve Cheney and Cheney Brothers exceeded our expectations in every respect. The quality of the workmanship was outstanding. For example, our house had extensive interior woodwork and built ins required., and all was done with outstanding quality. We were even impressed with the quality of house framing. Steve kept everything on track even though the schedule was somewhat aggressive. He worked well in selecting and managing all the subcontractors ensuring the quality of their work while staying on budget. He worked seamlessly with our architects and interior designer and they performed like a very cohesive team to assure the success of the project. Steve was a very effective communicator including being a good listener. We touched base at least once a week during the year long project and he helped our review by sending pictures every week. We only felt the need to visit the site three times during this year long effort because of his effective communication and our confidence in his management of the project. After we moved in, Steve continued to cheek in and does so to this day. Any follow up work or small defects have been handled efficiently and with a good sense of urgency. Overall, Steve and his team displayed a great sense of pride in our project, and acted as if they were building this home for themselves. Their attitude made all the difference.

Who makes this coffee table?

A: The coffee table is a custom-made piece by a local craftsman.

A: The Andersen windows are pre-finished in Andersen's "Dove Gray" option. The exterior trim was painted to match using Benjamin Moore paint. We do not have the name of the Benjamin Moore color that our painter used, but a representative from either Andersen or Benjamin Moore would be able to do a color match for you.

A: Yes, this hallway features floor-to-ceiling MDF shiplap walls. The shiplap is 8" wide with a 1/2" square groove.
