I needed my flat roof replaced, and wanted to build a new deck as well. Tek-line was the 'middle' bidder for the job, but they spent extra time with us to further develop a complete design for a modified roof slope to increase drainage, roof (access) stair replacement, a roof tile system, and new roof electrical and planter watering system. They came in on budget and on time - in time for a 4th of July roof top deck party! I worked with them again in 2015 when I needed a retaining wall and driveway replaced. We started with an 800 sq ft footprint with 2 bedrooms on a single-story, a 1-car attached garage, and a semi-finished basement. We added on a second story, completely renovated the existing floor, and had a lot of structural work done in the basement to support it all. > > We were very pleased not only with the work that was done but with the level of professionalism, attention to detail, and communication shown by Ian through the whole project. We always felt that we were in capable hands at every turn. He was clear on every change and option, always patient with us, and stayed in very close touch throughout. > > We knew the project was large but we didn't want to go broke in the process. Ian worked closely with the architect in the beginning to come up with some creative solutions to save money in key places. This left us with budget to spend on the stuff we'd notice more like tile, cabinetry, and floors. Even better, he committed to a date 5 months out from when we moved out and hit it to the day! Even with some surprises (watch out for lead and asbestos everywhere in a house built in this decade) and some changes on our end, he got us moved in on the date we had to leave our temporary rental and stayed true to his original budget for the scoped work. > > We cannot say enough good things about Ian and his team. They redid a covered second story deck (complete with Duradek waterproofing and glass railings), stairs and large concrete patio amongst other items. Their work product is top notch and their professionalism is second to none. We had started the project with another contractor who just did not have the man power to get the job done. After sitting abandoned for a few months, Tek-line came to our rescue and started working immediately. They got the project done - in the middle of winter - without any delays. From our first meeting with Ted and Ian, it was clear that they were straight shooters; they didn't try to low-ball us on price and find extra charges later, and they didn't use our inexperience to inflate their estimates. When one element of the design turned out to be very expensive to implement, Ian suggested alternatives that kept us within budget, but still met all our needs. There were many decisions to be made about fixtures and finishes, and he helped us select from suppliers that could provide what we wanted at reasonable prices. When a significant issue was discovered (that had not been revealed by the pre-sale inspection), he found ways to solve it while remaining on schedule. Perhaps most importantly, we visited the house almost every day to observe the construction and answer questions, and he welcomed our participation; we were able to see the quality and care of Tek-Line's work first-hand, and we were very impressed. > > If the best indicator of a good experience is repeat business, then Tek-Line has achieved it.
