We have cabinets installed and we are trying to pick a color for countertops. We want to get quartz. Our appliances are stainless steel. The kitchen is connected to a great room which has a large white kiva style fireplace: Our log home has tons of natural wood color as you can see. Our kitchen cabinets are maple, our log walls and ceiling are pine with a natural finish. Our floors are ceramic Saltillo/Terra Cotta style tiles: A major dilemma is whether to choose a similar color or a contrasting color for the kitchen counters. One way we are leaning is to Cambria Bristol Blue for a contrasting color: And for a similar color we like Cambria Berkeley: We would appreciate people's thoughts/ideas on our kitchen counter color dilemma. Any alternate color ideas are welcome. A: I love the matte counters as well. It just gives it that nice organic feel. I personally used a honed Caesar stone in Lagos Blue on my bar top and perimeter and a polished sparkly one for my main Island top. I love my honed top. In know my kitchen is completely different than yours, but you get to see my honed quartz. **Q: Need help finding cabinet doors** *(in Design Dilemma)* My husband and I decided to take on our first BIG DIY project = Built-Ins! Now, we need to find the doors! :) We want doors with glass fronts but can't seem to find either the right color, material, or size. We have researched how to make our own but would like to see if we can find 2 pairs first. Dimensions would need to be 18" x 40" Suggestions? A: I use Barker doors often. I put in your size in paint grade alder with cups or drilled for hinges. I believe they were 55.00 each. You need to paint paint them yourself. Check them out. They make any size you like, with or without mullions and different finishes. They have white as well but it will cost more. www.barkerdoors.com **Q: Built-in planter in dining** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hello, We just purchased a house and are in the process of updating it. The dining room has half walls with built-in planters as you can see in the picture. The plants are fake, which is easy as far as maintenance, but I am looking to make this space feel more modern and give a coastal vibe. I have already ordered an updated light fixture (a capiz shell one featured in the second photo) and we got rid of the buffet and hutch. One idea I have is to use white wainscoting. Perhaps I can get rid of the planters altogether. However , a part of me is hesitant to do this as it is a unique feature to work with.
