Our home is a super insulated home (12 inches of insulation in the walls and more in the ceiling) with triple glazed windows. Our home has no furnace but is heated by passive solar and two small wood stoves. Our home is 2000 square feet and last year we used under 4 cords of wood to heat our home. When the sun shines we have to be careful not to overheat our home. In addition we have a 10 kw solar system on our roof which provides more electricity than we use. > The Wright Builders team that worked with us are experts in building this kind of house.
