Big projects like lifting/pouring new foundations, complete gutting & interior/exterior restorations. After devastating 2017 fires in Nor Cal, I relocated & needed a new So Cal general contractor. I’d heard good things about Rudy Aguilar & his firm, Arlington Construction. Rudy met me at my fixer project for a full 3 hour meeting. The prop has multiple structures; a most daunting rehab! As a woman in a new area, unfamiliar with local terrain, I’m nervous to say the least. Rudy was so honest and thorough in his assessment. He listened to my ideas, brought up issues I’d totally overlooked and generously gave me his best advice. His decades of work with building codes make him a pro at obtaining proper permits for rehabbing older props. His advice regarding new fire codes, higher materials/labor costs during pandemic and structural issues I’d overlooked was sobering and honest. I decided to regroup based on his honest advice. Believe me, some contractors will pitch whatever to get the contract. They will also over-talk a woman, even one with experience & knowledge. Not Rudy! He obviously loves what he does & cares greatly for his clients. He’s not so desperate that he’ll say yes to every desire, then require more money later. My husband and I started ReGEn Real Estate, LLC, a real estate redevelopment company, and thought our house would make an ideal first project. We found Rudy through a referral from another job he and his crew were working on and after meeting with them, we were confident that he was our contractor. Rudy was very forthcoming with what our expectations should be for the timeframe for completion and he delivered it ahead of schedule. His crew did a great job of cleaning up the job site each day and were always on time or early to work. They did an amazing job on all items we had them complete. We had the golden oak flooring removed and replaced with glue down engineered hardwood, tile on the fireplace was replaced with stacked stone and a new mantle, the entire house and garage was painted and all baseboard was replaced. We also gutted the master bathroom and installed travertine tile on the floor and in the shower, installed a new vanity, fixtures, mirrors and lighting and added quartz tops to the vanity and tub.
