At Both Sides Construction, we have consistently remained a small local builder over the years, focused on strong customer service. The building industry has changed with economic pressures and industry consolidations, but we have never wanted to be the biggest – just our very best. Staying true to our core values of quality, honesty and integrity, has helped Both Sides Construction survive the economic ups and downs since 1985.

Both Sides Construction started out as most construction companies do: learning a particular trade. Siding and framing were the starting focus of Both Sides Construction, and we eventually came to specialize in constructing hand-cut roofs. As time went on, we gained experience in the trades of concrete, drywall, tile, painting and finish carpentry. The business side of Both Sides Construction became versed in project planning and design, land development and finance.

Having a local builder is good, but from the client standpoint, you also want to know that the company you choose is established and licensed and bonded. Both Sides Construction has direct builder contact from the initial meeting through all phases of Oregon home construction. > Don Etter of Both Sides Construction has been my General Contractor for two phases of updates in my home.
> The first phase was in 2015 when I bought my house, and included:
> Building out a utility room into the garage space
> Widening doorways, replacing all doors and trim, and closet shelving
> Kitchen updates including cabinet, island and appliance modifications and new countertops
> Installing new light fixtures throughout, and bringing electrical up to code
> Coordinating with HVAC, plumbing and floor installers who were on separate contracts
> The second phase was in 2018-19, remodeling two bathrooms, including:
> Demolition of walls and old fixtures
> Installing new walls, linen closet, tiled shower, lighting, ventilation and finishes
> Coordinating with asbestos abatement and plumber, under separate contracts

> Through these projects, I have come to trust Don as a knowledgeable, honest builder who communicates well and provides high quality work.  He is great at problem solving and suggesting options to get the best result, and shares his expertise without being pushy.   Don is also a good businessman, keeping to schedule and budget, and flagging any issues or changes right away.  He has excellent subcontractors and holds them to his standards.  To top it off, he brings a positive attitude and is fun to work with!
