> We worked with Alair Cowichan Valley Project Manager (PM) for 14 months on the planning phase of our reno. During that time, my husband and I experienced an exceptional amount of frustration and anger regarding his absolutely shameful management of our project. Specifically, here were the highlights:
>
> 1\. Asked to select materials, I.e., counters, paint colours but given minimal guidance on what needed to be selected and then accused of not being serious about our reno when we were behind in selections for things we didn’t even know we needed to select because the PM failed to communicate expectations
>
> 2\. Constantly in the dark about progress and communication from PM was horrible (embarrassing really for a “professional”)
>
> 3\. Bullying and Misogynistic behaviour
>
> 5\. Promised an invoice reimbursement - never received
>
> 6\. Some of his contacts were unreliable and unprofessional, I.e., failing to attend appointments, breaking consumer laws. Rather than acknowledge their bad behaviour he chose to defend them
>
> 7\. Made decisions without consulting us
>
> 8\. Referred to us as partners rather than clients/ customers. There was a lot of confusion from the PM on the fact that he is running a business, thus he is working with customers - he was very adamant that we were his partners, that our relationship was like a marriage. It was a weird/ manipulative/ delusional way of viewing customers.
>
> At one point we were considering firing the PM and I reached out to the company owner to explore our options. During that conversation I asked him twice to keep it confidential so we could have some time to process the information and make a decision. Approx. 30 mins after ending the call my husband received a call from the PM informing us he needed to have a meeting and that he wouldn’t be submitting our permit application. He broke our confidence and went straight to PM. So, are these guys professionals or high school teenagers who get off on gossip?
>
> I think Alair probably provides a decent experience if you are someone with money to burn. But if you are doing a reno on a budget - DO NOT even consider Alair unless you want to sign up for extra stress and an undesirable drain on your funds.
>
> My suggestion for the PM is to take some project management training or at least stop referring to yourself as a PM as it is an insult to true professional PM’s.
>
> And for the company owner, integrity can’t be learnt - that’s a virtue that can only be practiced. But here’s a pro tip, confidential means don’t tell anyone, like keep a secret.

> My kitchen renovations were done by Jason Easterly of Alair Homes in Scottsday. From start to finish I could not believe the professionalism of Jason and everyone he sent to my home. There was a lot of work as all cabinets had to be removed including the existing granite and all appliances. Part of this had to be done from my Canadian residence but that didn't seem to interfere as I received pictures of the project every step of the way. I know about projects as I am in the flooring business in Canada. I basically knew what I wanted my cabinets to contain as far as pull-outs, garbage bin etc. Every detail was sent to me for approval and the communications continued to flow on a regular bases and with their software that clients are given to be updated this was fantastic. They even did touch up paint and made sure everything was in running order. Once I arrived back to Scottsdale they did a walk through with me. There was a couple of things that needed to be touched up and it was done in a timely fashion. I would strongly recommend anyone wanting work done by professionals that Alair Homes in Scottsdale is one worth taking the time to look into - I can't say enough about my pleasant journey with Jason and his team. Thank-you so much

> We were very impressed with Alair Homes when they built our home in late 2014/early 2015.
>
> One thing we have found outstanding is the work done under their warranty over one year later. No item is too small for them to fix up so the customer is totally satisfied with the work they did. Things like paint touch ups, nail pops and a cabinet door being a little out of line were fixed quickly. We had a wood beam at the top of our entrance which had twisted and they replaced the center beam and supporting timbers and it looks better than when it was first done.
>
> In talking to some other people who have had homes built by some other builders they have certainly not had the same level of service that we've had after the home is built. We only had to send one email to get everything done, where our friends had to harrass the builder for months to get some things fixed. This is something very important which people should check out when they hire a company to build their home.

- [Remora Home Renovation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/remora-home-renovation-pj-vj~1581608)
  - Location: Nanaimo, BC
  - Photos: 14
  - Description: The home was originally designed and built by an award-winning architect. The dated finishes made the home feel small and dark. Our painter and floor finisher did an outstanding job; the entire ceiling was painted by hand to ensure each and every board had the same amount of stain. This was done to ensure a uniform look. The floor finisher sanded and stained the floors in place 3 times between the other trades working on site. The results speak for themselves.

  - Description: This 3 bedroom, 2 and a half bath custom home features a grand entry, vaulted ceilings, and open concept living space with sweeping ocean views. “While the property, like any build, had its challenges, we were most impressed on how things were dealt with and overcome, resulting in a final product that matched our vision. Matt and Stu were easy to deal with and any issues were managed in a fair conscientious manner. We now have a home instead of simply a house.”

The resulting two-storey stone and timber beam entry home it a rustic take on west coast style, and fits into the vineyard perfectly.

  - Description: “There were a few impressive things we encountered; one was the final result of how great our house is; the next impressive thing is how much we enjoyed dealing with Matt Hopewell, our Project Manager. He was always available to us, gave great advice and was always prompt to solve any problems with trades people and deliveries, but most importantly – he really show how much he cared to have everything done well and on time for us. The concern he showed for every little detail was as if he was bu…

Model - AURORA
SKU\# VF2400WT1

Have a Great Day

**Q: Siding color** *(in Photo Questions)*

Could you please tell me the siding color. It's beautiful.

A: Good Morning Kerri, Yes we did the siding on this project using James Hardie Siding. This is actually a standard Hardie color called "Timberbark". It come pre-finished in horizontal plank siding, Shingles and in full 4x8 sheets as shown in this image installed in a Board and Batten configuration. I also love this color and used it on my personal home as well. Thanks for the interest and for reaching out.

**Q: I really like the backsplash tile. Could you share the name & color?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I am looking for a backsplash for our basement bar and this is very similar to what I am considering. My granite is lighter but the tile looks similar. What is the manufacture and color?

A: Afternoon sschartz3937, the tile came from a manufacture out of Turkey "RLMara".
(Woodgrain polished random plank). Thanks for your interest.

**Q: Did you use a docking station for the lamp?** *(in Photo Questions)*

How did you hide wires from the lamp? Did you do an in-drawer docking station?

A: Sorry for the slow response some how your question was missed.

We had the bed built in place as a permeant part of the room. This allowed us to wire a plug for the lamp flush in the head board directly behind the lamp for a very clean look.

**Q: Looking at siding manufacturer and colour** *(in Photo Questions)*

Looks awesome

A: Afternoon susersmith, Thanks for reaching out. The siding details are as follows.
\- siding is Kaycan Da Vinci 4.5” bevel in “Castlemore” colour
the shingle/shake is “Prestige Beige”

**Q: Gorgeous** *(in Photo Questions)*

This is so gorgeous ...im in love with this design

A: Morning gods\_child, send me your email and i will send you a link for all of the home photos.
Thanks for reaching out
