> As someone planning a remodel, I was hopeful that Kathleen from KTJ Design Co.’s $800 Clarity Session would provide the professional guidance I needed. While they did a walkthrough, took some measurements, and created a schematic drawing of my kitchen, critical pieces were missing:
> •They did not measure all areas discussed (my office cabinetry and mudroom).
> •No cost estimate or even a projected budget range was provided.
> •Communication was delayed, I waited over a week and only got an answer after following up myself, at which point I was told my project wasn’t a fit.
>
> For $800, I expected more. Industry standards for clarity sessions typically include complete measurements, brainstorming and layout sketches, actionable recommendations, and at least a cost range. At the very least, homeowners should leave with deliverables that help them move forward, even if they don’t continue with that firm.
>
> Advice to others considering KTJ Design Co.:
> •Get everything in writing, what’s included, how deliverables will be provided, and when you’ll hear back.
> •Ask to see a sample clarity session package.
> •Confirm if you’ll get a cost range or estimate, as this is critical for planning.
>
> Homeowners deserve transparency and value. Unfortunately, I did not find that here.

> Our Remodel Clarity Session is very clearly defined as a two-hour consultation. The deliverables are: a walkthrough of the home, discussion of goals and challenges, professional brainstorming and recommendations, and in many cases on-the-spot sketches or schematic drawings to illustrate ideas. That is exactly what was provided during your session — a full walkthrough, kitchen measurements, and a to-scale schematic drawing of a new layout.
>
> What the Clarity Session does not include is a full-service design package, detailed specifications, or contractor-ready cost estimates. Those items require weeks of design development and fall under a separate agreement. Expecting that level of work in a two-hour consultation is not in line with what was advertised or purchased.
>
> We stand by the value of the Clarity Session and the deliverables provided, and we wish Grace success as she continues her remodeling journey

> I'm a physician that just moved into the area and had to start work right away.  I had an empty house, had no idea of reputable places to shop for furniture and no time to do it all. If I did, figure out the where's, I only had the weekends to do this and wait on deliveries, and a lot places do not deliver on weekends.  I needed help!  My husband read an article on Kathleen in a local magazine and hired her for a consultation without me knowing. She met him at the house,  took room measurements, drawings and was given our budget. I would have never done this. I am a professional woman and am accustomed to being in charge, especially of the style and comforts of my home. I did not want or think some "other woman"  could meet my expectations.
