**★★★★★ — Sarah, March 2022**

> Michael Did a great job on our home remodel. Communication was excellent, he was always available to talk us through the process and answer questions. Work was done in a timely manner, and the end result was fantastic! He even came in under the project budget, a welcome surprise, thanks Michael!

**★★★★★ — Loren Farr, Oct. 2018**

> We have a mid-century modern house and wanted to add a new kitchen. The old galley kitchen of 1953 just wasn't working for us. Michael helped us every step of the way. We were able to add a modern large kitchen and keep the unique style that attracted us to the classic lines of our new home. We now have a kitchen that flows naturally into a dining and living room area. It's an open floor plan the runs 56 feet and leads into a glass wall and sunroom giving an additional feeling of openness. The old kitchen is now a beautiful laundry room. Michael is a creative thinker and a good listener who was able to capture our hopes for this project.

**★★★★★ — pealohpy, Dec. 2016**

> I am a contractor in the Eugene/SpringField area. I have had the opportunity to work with Michael on several occasions. Both on my job sites as well as we hired him to do drawings for my shop and kitchen/bath remodel. On all occasions Michael was very professional and very easy to work with. We gave him Ideas for our remodel and he gave us back even better ideas and reasons for the ideas. For my shop I also had a design idea and the drawing I received back was exactly what was visioned in my head. On the professional contractor side Michael was very professional and answered any questions I had about the design and details. His drawings are complete and easy to read. I will hire Michael again both for my personal and my professional life. I recommend Michael's services.

**★★★★★ — J J, Dec. 2016**

> Wanted an Interior and exterior design consult. Michael's ideas, presentation and personality are impressive. Phase one of project complete and it is better than we had hoped! This company listened to us and is great to work with. Phase two in 2017.

**★★★★★ — Laura Gershman, Nov. 2016**

> I type this review from my new home office that was expertly designed by Michael at Agate Architecture. My husband and I presented him with a home that was in desperate need of an addition. Not only was his design aesthetically pleasing, it was smart and functional. Because of Michael's flexibility we were able to complete our addition on budget and we have a beautiful end result. We are exceedingly excited about our new space and our neighbors tell me they love how the home looks too! Michael is a pleasure to work with, has tasteful designs and created for us exactly what we had in mind. I highly recommend Agate Architecture.

**★★★★★ — Terri Harding, Nov. 2016**

> After seeing and admiring Michael's work in a friend's kitchen, we met with him to discuss our project goals. We immediately hit it off. He had an uncanny ability to pick fixtures and suggest design elements that fit our style on the first try. Additions to the scope such as redoing the stairs and removing an old upper deck made a world of difference to the end result, and we even managed to stay very close to our original budget expectations. I could not be happier with my new kitchen, dining room, stairs, and laundry room! My (high) expectations were totally exceeded. I recommend Michael highly and can't wait to see what he does next.

**★★★★★ — richieweinman, April 2016**

> Michael Soraci was great to work with. My wife and I hired him to help us design a kitchen remodel for our 1947 house. We wanted something that was both modern and also respected the character of the house. This is a project we talked about for years but could never get on the same page. He got us there! Michael is a great listener and had command of very good computer tools to help us visualize the details of his design proposals. He advised and offered feedback for us on all of the details from big design issues, window selection and down to the small details such as colors, tiles, counter tops, cabinet knobs etc.
>
> Michael kept within his own budget for design services and was respectful of our overall project budget with his design suggestions. We are very pleased with our finished product which was completed within our budget. We recommend him without any reservations.

**★★★★★ — Toby Catlin, Dec. 2015**

> Michael Soraci was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. His attention to detail was fantastic. Nothing gets passed him. He was consistently available throughout the project and made sure everything was correct and to our satisfaction. He has a friendly professional attitude that made the whole experience comfortable and easy, especially to us "newbies" to the building/remodel world. No question was left unanswered. We would/will work with him again the next time we have any building plans.

**★★★★★ — alllank, Nov. 2015**

> We were very happy working with Michael on the remodel job. He communicated well, understood what we wanted, had good ideas, listened to our ideas, and was a good problem solver. when the inevitable unexpected came up. He's first rate.

**★★★★★ — dnnshebert, May 2015**

> We contacted Michael Soraci to design a larger kitchen for our home. We had a galley kitchen and only knew we wanted more room for moving around and counter space. When Michael met with us, he looked over our home and talked with us about our lifestyle and what it was that we wanted to accomplish with this remodel. He noted our large garden in the back and how much we loved growing flowers and vegetables. We also like to spend time out of doors in good weather. After meeting with Michael just a few times, he had a concept for us to look at. The end result was more than we ever imagined. He incorporated a lovely sun room addition that allowed the kitchen to be more functional and a full wall of windows that brings in the warmth of our lovely garden while prepping and cooking family meals. He added a wrap around deck for enjoying meals or just sitting around. It is now like being outside while in the comfort of the indoors. Thanks to Michael and his sense of feeling of space and recognizing his client’s needs while carrying them out with beautiful design.

**★★★★★ — Sean McNeal, April 2015**

> Mr. Soraci has been very patient with us in the design phase of a complex project. We have made several adjustments along the way, and he has been very attentive to our needs and suggestions. He always has a work around and a way to make things happen!! We have been very pleased with his services. I highly recommend.

**★★★★★ — janek\_97405, April 2015**

> We worked with Michael designing our master bedroom suite. Michael is creative, energetic, enthusiastic, positive, respectful and funny. We loved all of his ideas for our space and would recommend him without reservation.

  - Description: Serenely located on the banks of the McKenzie River, this Modern-Rustic Home underwent a complete interior renovation to the main house and the cottage/garage. The original interior featured timber framed ceilings in the living areas, but flat ceilings throughout the rest of the rooms. To aesthetically connect these spaces, the ceiling vault needed to be expanded, yet look and feel as though it was original. Lines of sight throughout the house to the river and deck area were amplified by this an…

  - Description: Located on an open piece of land in the Willamette Valley, this custom home takes its inspiration from the Modern Farmhouse aesthetic. Painted a classic white with striking black window frames and featuring a long gable-structured roof, the exterior also includes a western facing front porch to enjoy sunset views, and a zero-maintenance turf yard made from recycled materials. With the primary axis running Northwest to Southwest, the home takes full advantage of daylight and is ADA accessible thr…

  - Photos: 28
  - Description: Perched on a plateau in the Coastal Mountains of Oregon, this Pacific Northwest meets Craftsmen style house overlooks a certified pinot noir vineyard with amazing southerly views. The original structure was agricultural in nature and never intended to be used as a primary dwelling. Over the years, modifications to the building allowed for domestic residence, however the layers of this history provided a design challenge to the renovation and addition both in terms of structural integrity and har…

  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 27
  - Description: The design goal for this Northwest Transitional home was to double the original footprint in order to comfortably accommodate two generations of family living together under one roof, plus add a two-car garage to the property. The existing interior was already stunning - four levels of open spaced zones with specific uses all flanking a sunken living room with wonderful westerly views. Rich colored exposed beams from a timber framed vaulted-hip roof appeared to float against the white gallery-st…

  - Description: Tucked away in the Friendly Street Neighborhood of Eugene, this 720 sf Accessible Dwelling Unit (ADU) is designed to be private yet closely connected to the primary residence and in keeping with the building style of the neighborhood. Since the primary residence features a hipped roof structure this choice was also used for the ADU. In addition, the roof structure is constructed using scissor trusses which allows the interior spaces to be quite voluminous. Upon entering the ADU this feeling of l…

  - Location: Eugene, OR
  - Photos: 36
  - Description: Terri and Jim loved many things about their home but knew there was room for improvement. The kitchen was cut off from the remaining house and was poorly designed, plus had a laundry closet arbitrarily shoved into an underutilized corner. The living room shared a common wall to the kitchen and an upper loft. The house is wonderfully sited on a large lot filled with mature trees that offer filtered morning and afternoon light. The current floor plan neglected to recognize this important considera…
- [University Neighborhood Kitchen Remodel](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/university-neighborhood-kitchen-remodel-pj-vj~2650505)
  - Location: Eugene, OR
  - Photos: 12
  - Description: The clients home is perched on a west facing slope, with lovely views of the Southern Willamette Valley. The focus of their kitchen remodel was to connect the contemporary style of the rest of the house with a more traditional farm-house inspired kitchen, and flip the existing layout orientation to take advantage of the before mentioned views. The main living area had an open floor plan with a center closet and staircase that split the kitchen and dining room off from the rest of the living spac…
- [Suzan and John's Kitchen Remodel](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/suzan-and-john-s-kitchen-remodel-pj-vj~2514448)
  - Location: Eugene, OR
  - Photos: 17
  - Description: Suzan and John's home was delightful in many ways, but the kitchen was cut-off from the flow of the rest of the house, ending in an awkward hall that opened to a guest room on one side and a utility closet at the other. A bathroom was in close proximity but due to the patchwork layout felt miles away. The goal was to update the kitchen and reestablish the connection from the dining room all the way back to the guest bedroom accommodations, while making the whole space ADA accessible. The homes m…
- [South Hills Renovation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/south-hills-renovation-pj-vj~2650435)
  - Location: Eugene, OR
  - Photos: 37
  - Description: This complete South Hills renovation started with a Midcentury Modern split level home in excellent original condition. The desired outcome was to convert the home into a hub for socializing while injecting a Southwestern Craftsman style into the mix. The existing chimney, built using clean, sharp strike joints and a beautiful range of brick color from red-orange to yellow-beige, became the unifier between these two possibly competing styles and inspired a new material that became a dominate fea…
- [Spear Remodel](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/spear-remodel-pj-vj~892066)
  - Location: Eugene, OR
  - Photos: 8
  - Description: The Spear's are a spirited family who enjoy having guests. Melody loves New England Farm Houses and David has a more modern aesthetic. The goal was to tie these two qualities into one design that looks original to the house. This mid-century home has a great open floor plan that flows from living area to dining to kitchen. That meant the 'kitchen' project was really a renovation of most of the first floor. Whimsical elements are balanced with high function and doses of saturated color in strateg…
- [Maggs Art Studio](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/maggs-art-studio-pj-vj~892101)
  - Location: Eugene, OR
  - Photos: 7
  - Description: The Magg's Art Studio is an example of how a few key design decisions can turn a cluttered, under-utilized space into the focal point of a home. What appears to be a simple open space is actually a highly resolved floor-plan with various zones that support Mary Magg's art practice. Originally used as a den, the space is separated from the primary residence and accessed by a stair landing to the basement and carport. Using this restricted access to advantage, the art studio is a space where serio…
- [Hebert Remodel](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/hebert-remodel-pj-vj~930746)
  - Location: Eugene, OR
  - Photos: 6
  - Description: Dennis and Larena Hebert are avid gardeners who love to dance and entertain guests. Their existing kitchen was only big enough to prepare a meal and had little connection to their garden. Not to mention there was no room to "cut a rug." The proposed addition, completed August 2011 is now the home's social hub, where it connects equally to both interior and exterior spaces. The design intent was to create a space that would tie into the existing house, yet be embellished with features that commun…
- [Atkinson Remodel](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/atkinson-remodel-pj-vj~930755)
  - Location: Eugene, OR
  - Photos: 8
  - Description: The Atkinson's purchased a five bedroom, two bathroom English Cottage style home, built in 1947. A barely usable second floor bathroom connected to the master bedroom needed a complete transformation. The design created a spa-like destination space that is light, airy, and highly function. While the aesthetic picked up on vintage features of the original house, the functionality is completely modern. The project also included a new master bedroom and walk-in closet. Sustainable features and stra…
- [Linda & Richie's Kitchen](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/linda-and-richie-s-kitchen-pj-vj~1713394)
  - Location: Eugene, OR
  - Photos: 17
  - Description: Linda and Richie live in a charming home built in the 1940’s. The house has generous living spaces that are warm, welcoming, and flooded with daylight. Classic to older homes, their kitchen is tucked into a corner of an otherwise flowing floor plan. The layout is such that any expansion of the kitchen would have ripple effects on the adjacent spaces and budget. Thus, the design challenge was to deliver a kitchen that would feel fresh, exciting, and consistent with the style of the home, while wo…
- [Soraci Addition](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/soraci-addition-pj-vj~1641707)
  - Location: Eugene, OR
  - Photos: 15
  - Description: Michael and Gabriella wanted a space to work from home before their daughter was born. Michael created a plan that would serve two goals: create voluminous light-filled spaces to use as a home office and art studio, while making sure the same spaces could transition into living space in the future. The original 726 sf home had two bedrooms and one bathroom. A welcome 574 sf addition increased the home to 1300 sf with three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and a great room. The addition fully integr…
- [Wright Remodel](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/wright-remodel-pj-vj~957398)
  - Location: Eugene, OR
  - Photos: 10
  - Description: Like many people in the Pacific Northwest, the Wrights felt their home was too dark in the wintertime to the point that they were considering moving. The goal of this project was simple; introduce more light to enhance well-being and reinvigorate underutilized dark spaces. The residence has good solar orientation but is tucked under a grove of mature pines. The original floor plan was compartmentalized, cutting off flow and social interaction. The renovation included the kitchen, kitchen lounge,…
