**Q: Backsplash Advice for Rescued Bulthaup Kitchen from Green Demolitions** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Looking for ideas for backsplash for larch lower cabinets and glass uppers. All appliances are stainless and upper cabinets will be wrapped in larch. I have posted a photo of kitchen in its "birth" home. We are keeping island configuration, but swapping a cabinet for the cart. The honed counters are a good bit darker than they appear in the photo. I tried the original larch backsplash, but think it is too much wood and not practical near the cooktop. Help, please!?

A: I would suggest mirror it will lighten not compete with everything around it.....

**Q: Exterior Front of House Remodel Help** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Any advise on what to do with the front of my house? I would like to add a front porch with pretty columns and maybe a few peaks. HELP!!! I plan on getting rid of the brick and the siding look. Maybe do Stack Stone halfway around the house.  We are also adding a driveway in the front.

A: I suggested you use a standing seam roof and siding this picture is the idea only in wood.  I would keep the house one color with trim, and after the driveway is in do landscaping that has height and color around the driveway and path to the front door.  I apologize for the clarity, I took this off my computer.

Building a home. I really hadn't thought about this large wall until we were in another home that had the drywall up. It's a lot of wall. This is in the living room which is open to the kitchen. Looking for inspiration. Thanks.

**Q: What colour back splash is best with dark cabinets and light counters?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Kitchen is medium in size and  fairly open. Doing KitchenCraft cabinets in "Thunder"  which is a grey-toned brown, and Caesarstone quartz counters in "Bianco Drift", white with grey/taupe. I found a tile that I love but it's fairly dark (silver-toned glass mosaic) but am worried it may be too dark and that I need something lighter since the cabinets are dark. Any suggestions or feedback?

**Q: What to do with wall bump-out** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I have this small bump-out in my bedroom that has me stumped. I'm pretty sure it used to be a fireplace, but has since been closed up.
On one side of the wall I have an armoire, and on the other side is my desk.
Question is — what do I put on that wall so that it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb while also not overwhelming and cluttering the wall?
A few ideas I'm playing with:

A leaning mirror
A collection of small things, like baskets
A projector screen for movies (but then what do I do when not watching?)
Add a decal
Or just leave it blank?

A: Hi Annie....Lucky you, I live in Tiburon and have loved  those beautiful Ladies....
since you have tall ceilings that's a big plus, but the rest of the space looks tight.  Can you draw a quick sketch of the floor plan, that would help.  I think someone suggested opening it up. I'm inclined to agree with that unless your renting.  If you own...open up the wall and use that old brick to create an electric fireplace surrounded by books...no floating shelves.....   the floor plan would help a lot.....

**Q: HELP with curb appeal** *(in Design Dilemma)*

My husband and I are looking at this house as a potential flip but I am torn on what do to for the curb appeal. This is the view of the "front" of the house - the entrance is
I know we want to take out the existing bushes and try to open up that front entry as much as we can. We also plan on painting the brick and adding shutters. My issue is the window in the center is a bathroom window. How can we make that look "ok" as it faces the front of the house?
