> The only yard I'd seen in our neighborhood that I liked was the neighbor behind us. So when we decided to rip out the old, dead mess in our front yard I strolled around the corner and asked who had done theirs. They gave me Di's number
> When I called I let Di know that I didn't want anything that resembled Tucson - two rocks, three plants and some gravel. That's what everyone had done in town when the California drought started killing off lawns.
> I told Di that I wanted an English garden. We had just come back from a tour of Britain and had strolled some of the most beautiful gardens we had ever seen. Di said that English or Cottage gardens were her favorites and it could be done with the drought-resistant plants available here in Southern California.
