They did an impeccable job. The grouting was masterful and recommended an epoxy grout, which takes more skill as it sets fast, but its stain resistant and more durable than normal grout. They also identified that our floor sloped in places and adjusted for those so the floor was properly level. The team who did the work was also friendly, on time, and attentive to our preferences. We chose them because their plan was the most thorough and included frequent communication. The work required them to coordinate with our architect, designer, structural engineers, geotechnical engineers, and support piling specialists. We also decided to do some light remodeling and updating while the house was under construction. Our STS project manager (Jay) and site lead (Enrique) were fantastic to work with, answering our many questions and making sure to check in with us before proceeding on anything that came up anew. The on-site team was very flexible and helped us to create new storage space and improve interior spaces during the build. The plumbers, electricians, and other pros employed with STS were all great to work with. Everyone was respectful of the home and property. There was quite a lot of structural reframing required, as well as electrical and plumbing updates, and almost every window in the house was replaced. The STS team did some very creative work to mask all the new beams in the ceiling. The tilework in the kitchen and bathroom are spectacular - people ooh and ahh when they see it. The wood frames around the windows and the handmade fir banister bring the Craftsman feel back, even though all the original wood had been stripped out. In hiring STS, we got all of that and more! > STS, from the top down, from the estimator to the crew to the end-of-project cleaners, have a strong determination to do the very best work they can and to make sure the customer is happy. They don’t just get it done, they do it with a pride and thoroughness that is quite amazing in this day and age. Our site supervisor, Trai, took a personal interest in our project. He communicated very clearly, so we always knew what was going on. He and his crew always left the site as clean and organized as they could at the end of the day. Every STS employee we dealt with was caring and considerate and exceeded our expectations of quality of work; they treated the project as if it was their own. > Some contractors that I interviewed seemed to be unwilling to work with homeowner designs and expected the customer to work with a professional designer or architect. After reviewing our plans, STS felt they were good enough to do the project, and there was no talk of bringing in professional design people. To make sure that the cabinets for our kitchen were exactly the right height, and also to save money, my husband built them himself. Not all contractors would be willing to work with customer-built cabinets, and we found out later that STS was a bit dubious that he would get them done on time and that they would be of the quality and precision that they were used to. But they took a chance and, for the record, he did and they were. > STS responded quickly to any issues or problems that we had. They didn’t cut corners and they made sure that the quality of the final product was excellent throughout, even if it meant doing something over. There were things that I didn’t even notice that they insisted weren’t good enough, and they fixed them. > Our experience working with STS Construction has been wonderful.
