Struggling with a backsplash selection, I called Debra for help. After seeing the kitchen and the granite in our home, Debra and I visited the tile supplier. We selected several tile samples and brought them back to our home to make the final decision. The tile she suggested was perfect, adding the style and sophistication to bring the entire kitchen together. I love the backsplash and how it compliments the beautiful kitchen and granite counter top. That completed we moved on to window treatments. We wanted something clean and simple and decided on blinds. The trim in our home is Manchester Tan by Benjamin Moore, a soft creamy colour. We wanted the blinds to look fresh and clean but not a stark white. Once again Debra suggested the perfect colour and we are thrilled with the blinds. The tiles are a light gray, the bathtub is white fiberglass with chrome fixtures and along the wall are white shinny tiles all the way to the ceiling. The vanity is a light wooden color with a white countertop. Behind the vanities the wall is tiled with white wavey tiles. A: Benjamin Moore Gray Owl or Classic Gray. You dont seem to say or show the floor tile **Q: Roman Shades Vs 2 inch faux wood blinds?** *(in Design Dilemma)* Roman shades or 2 inch faux wood white blinds?? And if I do roman shades what color? Plan is to get a duvet in a light grey or subtle grey/white pattern! A: I have pictures of several on my profile on houzz **Q: Jute rug for foyer** *(in Design Dilemma)* Can anyone recommend a good jute rug for a foyer? The front door will need to clear it. A: Jute does not do well in high traffic areas or where there is the opportunity for moisture such as wet shoes and boots. There are some beautiful machine made broadlooms that mimic sisal and jute but stand up beautifully. You can choose from a wide variety of binding materials, colours and sizes. **Q: Choose furniture colours** *(in Design Dilemma)* I have 1.cream walls, 2.dark brown hard floor 3.expresso cabintets next to fireplace 4\. Light brown rock fire place. We choose a light Beige leather sectional with Darkbrown trim (not the one in pic)- will this colur work for my living room. If so what colour Rug do I choose? A: You could accent with cream, orange and blue or charcoal **Q: Cast your vote again!! Artwork** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hi again. A few weeks ago I asked you if you prefer the NYC canvas or the Amsterdam bridge in the gold frame in my living room. An overwhelming majority said the NYC canvas (and to have it framed). Some suggested that maybe the gold frame on the bridge picture was making it too busy. So I told the artist and he brought a different frame for it. It's a very dark brown and not nearly as busy. So vote again - NYC canvas (framed) or the bridge picture in the new, simple frame?!! A: The New York one is too small for the space. The NYC looks dirty against your beautiful walls and rich blues. I don't see the warm orange colours in the bridge repeated in your room or used as an accent colour, so there is no connection or repetition. It looks heavy and dark for the otherwise soft soothing light filled space. It feels too bossy. **Q: new color for the new home** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hello , I\`am looking for the new walls color for the entire house , I want something really light gray with NO any green or blue or pink in it . The house is pretty small . Could someone give any advice . I want Sherwin Williams paint. Thanks . A: You need determine what the undertones are in the fixed elements of the house that are staying to be sure you pick the right palette - dirty or clean, dark or light and just what will complement your floors, cabinets, counter and backsplash. Choose one neutral and then you can choose colours for bathrooms and bedrooms if you want a change. Always put a white piece of paper behind the paint chips if you are holding them up on a wall. Otherwise you will be influenced by the existing paint. To see the different undertones in paint place them on white paper and compare, compare, compare.
