> I have worked numerous times with the Shade Store.
> My go to rep. Is Sandra from the design center in Woodbury NY.
> Every customer feels they recieved the best price as well as outstanding customer service.
> Call Sandra she will help with all your needs!

**★ — Patty S, Oct. 2026**

> Unacceptable service and recurring quality issues for a luxury price.
> I chose The Shade Store because of their premium reputation, but the experience has been incredibly frustrating. We paid a top-tier premium price expecting a seamless process, but instead faced significant quality and structural issues. Our custom Roman shades have repeatedly broken right where the rings attach to the shade fabric. Because the rings keep snapping off, the cords sag and droop, creating both an unsightly mess and a safety hazard. For a luxury product, this level of durability is completely unacceptable.
> What makes it worse is the abysmal customer service. While they repeatedly apologize, absolutely nothing is ever fully corrected. I was escalated to a Client Success Manager who informed me she only checks her emails and voicemails at the very end of the day. To make matters worse, when she is out of the office for days at a time, she doesn't bother to set up an out-of-office message, leaving you feeling completely ignored while trying to get answers. I have found this same approach with every person I have interacted with at The Shade Store. There is no sense of urgency or responsibility.
>
> One of the conversations I had with the Client Success Manager she said “I hate to ask you this but is it possible that you are using the shades too much, raising them and lowering them multiple times a day?” What???? These premium shades are meant to be used?
>
> After failing to resolve the issue, we decided to accept the offer to replace the blinds and my file was passed onto a design consultant to pick out replacement blinds. I was told to "please allow the team a couple of days to reach out" because the manager didn't even have access to her own team’s schedules. It has now been three days, and predictably, I have heard absolutely nothing from them.
> Passing the buck and dodging emails is completely unacceptable behavior for a company that charges thousands of dollars. We are currently left living with broken, non-functional window treatments and zero communication. I expected a luxury experience but got big-box stress.
>
> The negligence goes all the way to the top. At one point, the CEO and Co-founder, Zach Gibbs, emailed me personally stating, “do not hesitate to reach out to me directly if you have any questions or if there is anything I can do to make your experience with us more enjoyable.” I have since emailed him twice directly with my concerns and have not received a single response.
> Avoid this company!

> Randy at the Shade Store in Philadelphia was incredible! We purchased shades for our whole house. She was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and very patient throughout the whole process. I had no idea what I was doing or needed and she guided me with true professionalism. If anything was a problem she took care of it immediately. I highly recommended her

> I worked with Gwen at the Shade Store and she was fabulous! Before we started, we talked about the look I wanted to achieve and she sent me home with several swatches. Once I made my decision, she was there every step of the way to make sure that the installation happened correctly and I achieved the results I desired.
>
> I would highly recommend Gwen and the Shade store.

> have to tell you, what first had me walk through the door at The Shade Store in Woodbury, were the company reviews of the quality and options of their products. What kept me in the store, was the exceptional level of personal customer care I received by the design consultants, Elisse Hanley and Dee Alejandro. I was helping a friend select shades for his home, and I was new to the process. I had countless questions and sent numerous emails, and never once did they lose patience with me. Elisse helped and guided me to my final selections. Honestly, it felt as though I was working with a friend- one that was professional and had complete knowledge and understanding of the product. It was an amazing experience from the moment I walked through the door, to the completed installation.
> Please look no further, this is The Shade Store for you!

Michelle, especially was invaluable in the decision process. Her knowledge of available options across all budget ranges, her sense of style, her intelligence and patience all made for a can't lose situation. HIGHLY recommend!

> Robert and his team are primo! I've worked with him and his staff in the renovation of my home. My many window treatments are even better than I anticipated. I would highly recommend reaching out to Robert at the Aspen Grove location. You'll enjoy your experience as well as your shades. Promise!

> Once again, I am delighted to report that I have received another round of Five-Star service from The Shade Store. This consistent level of service is truly commendable.
>
> Your installation team member Mike arrived on time, was friendly and helpful, and completed the installation in record time, with great precision and care. He even offered to remove the now-defunct iron rod and old curtains with his electric screwdriver. Now, that is what I call "going above and beyond"!
>
> I've outfitted all my windows with The Shade Store's top-notch products and services. The accurate measurement and quoting process was a delight. The quality of your products and the professionalism of your installation team have all been exceptional. I'm genuinely grateful for your help and that of your team. Thank you so much!

## Community Q&A

**Q: love the drapes** *(in Photo Questions)*

What fabric are they?

A: Hi Lauren, They are made of our Linen Blend material in Alabaster. You can find them here.

**Q: Window treatment for window seat** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Large window in family room with a window seat. Although it's not a true window seat... probably too small. My question.... can I put panels? What would be my other options. I like the blinds but feels unfinished.

Thank you.

A: Hello Jennifer,
There are a few ways you could finish this window. If you do like the look of drapery we would recommend you take them outside of the window opening and mount them above and wider than the window down to the floor. They can be either stationary (faux panels) or fully functional drapery depending on if you need more coverage than your blinds provide.
If you prefer to keep the treatments inside your window frame, you may want to consider a cornice or a Roman Shade that could add a little softness to the top of the window and even a pop of color!
We would be happy to help you with your project and send you free swatches of any of our materials. Please let us know if you have any questions.

**Q: How should I dress these windows?!?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We recently moved into a new home and just yesterday removed the horrible 80's valances...ick! Would love some advice on what to do with these windows...I have no plans to keep the green roller shades but not sure if I should replace with new shades, put up curtains, or both (they measure 35" x 68"). Any advice would be greatly appreciated! :)

A: Hi bauerash05,
For your windows, you could either layer treatments under drapes or have individual treatments on each of the windows. It really depends on the look you’d like the most!
The benefit to layering is that you could do a sheer layer with a more private layer and then you have the ability to control how much light/privacy you have at any given time. A good example of this is layering a privacy lined Drapery over Solar Roller Shades - this would maintain your visibility out of the windows as you can see through most solar shades, but then you could close the draperies for more privacy. We’re happy to assist you further with your project! We can provide you with free swatches, photo renders and more!

**Q: window treatments for large bedroom windows that open out on bottom** *(in Design Dilemma)*

our bedroom windows as you can see have five panels. Each of which open out only on the bottom. We would like to be able to open the bottom windows at certain times of
the year to get airflow. Therefore floor-to-ceiling window treatments don't work. we live on a lake with a lake view out our window and prefer natural type or looking products. Trying to figure out the best option. Any suggestions?

A: Hi Carolyn,
We recommend our collection of Woven Wood Shades. They are woven with natural materials and come in 4 styles. We offer Roman Shade-style Woven Wood Shades in Waterfall & Standard (flat front), Cascade (horizontally stitched) styles, and also a Roller Shade style. You could order these long enough to cover both the top and bottom windows, and then by raising the shades up a bit, you could expose the bottom windows to have them open as you mentioned you like to do. You could always cover the top windows only, leaving the bottom windows exposed all of the time if you would prefer.
Waterfall Woven Wood Shades in material Seaview.

Some of our natural materials are more sheer and would provide for a view through the shade. We recommend ordering free swatches so you can see how the materials would look on your windows. Please feel free to reach out to us at design@theshadestore.com for more design assistance, we’re happy to help with your project!

**Q: What window treatments are a good investment?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I want to install window treatments that will work if I decide to change the furniture or wall color in my apartment. In other words I don't want something limiting (e.g. Long drapes in a patterned fabric). Ideally I'd like to install window treatments that would add to the resale value of my place--or at the very least not detract from it. Any suggestions?

A: Hi Nelly,
That is an excellent question!
You can never go wrong with a beautiful quality shade that really custom-fits your window, in a neutral tone. And—if it happens to help address any issues in that room, it’s a bonus for resale as well!
For example, do you get a ton of sun and glare through your windows? If so, you can consider Solar Roller Shades to help cut the glare while maintaining your view through the window.

Solar Shades in 7% Metallic.
Need more privacy or a classic look for the room? A Flat Roman Shade in a beautiful solid cotton or linen fabric with privacy lining will certainly do the trick.

Flat Roman Shades in Herringbone.
We are here and happy to help you with your window project (from design and measure to completion and install) whenever you are ready!

**Q: Window treatment for hard to reach windows** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We have two very high, wide/ short windows in our bedroom. We love the natural light it brings, but not so much when we're trying to sleep. Any ideas?

Ignore the balloon... this happened in the two minutes it took me to write this. \#children

A: Hi Natalie,
We would recommend Motorized Blackout Roller Shades or Cellular Shades for these windows.
Roller Shades are simple and modern, and will raise into a small and inconspicuous roll at the top of the window. They will block light and help you sleep in the mornings.
Cellular Shades are insulating, and will trap hot and cold air within the cells. These shades will also rise into a minimal stack at the top of the window during the day.
Both of these shades can be motorized and operated with a remote control for hard to reach windows.
Please let us know if you have any questions. We'd be happy to help you further and send you free swatches of our materials to help you find the best fit.
