**Q: Need help deciding what to do with this ugly fire place wall** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I feel this fireplace is outdate and ugly.

A: Here's an idea. Behind the artwork is a television.

**Q: TV above fireplace?** *(in Polls)*

I'm redecorating a living room and having the great debate: put the TV over the fireplace or in a built-in next to the fireplace. What would you do?

A: Here is an option to consider. Art Concealment unit allows you to put the television above the fireplace so that two key focal points are in one area. When the TV is not being utilized art work can be lowered so that you can enjoy artwork or family portraits. The mount that allows you to lower the TV is an option as long as you turn off the fireplace while watching TV.

**Q: Help! Small/Narrow family room!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Please help me!! The room is 130" x 175". We probably have to leave the TV where it is, all of the wires  go through the wall & into a cabinet in the laundry room. Although, we would be open to move it if we were absolutely wow-ed by an idea. The sofa & bookshelf will be gone soon & dark laminate flooring will be going in. I was thinking of putting a chaise sectional (with the chaise on the opposite side of the fireplace) across from the TV with a rug under & hopefully an end table on the chaise side? Or maybe a sofa across from the fireplace but it would leave a very small walkway into the room. The last time I had a design thought I ended up with this...so needless to say, I don't trust my ideas ;) Any help is appreciated!!

A: By taking two focal points and putting them into one location (fireplace and television above fireplace) you just cleared valuable wall space. You can now put two sofas facing one another for conversation or viewing the television. By adding a ArtScreen you can keep the space formal for company and informal for family. what is missing? Need curtain, mantel decor wall decor ideas. What color or style curtains would work best ? I like traditional/tuscan style and colors.

A: The television would be fine above the fireplace

**Q: Should I paint the fireplace brick and mantle the color of the wall?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I was going to paint the wooden mantle and the bricks the same color as the wall (navajo white). Now I am worried that it might look "cheap" or I might regret it. What do you think? This is a non functioning fireplace and it is an old house. Should I just white wash it? The wood is bare. Thoughts?

A: This is a very popular question. Painting brick is a no return proposition. Once it is painted there us no turning back. Returning the brick back to its natural state is extremely messy and can be costly. So make sure you want to commit to it. I never paint the wall and mantel the same color reason being is you lose the pop effect of the mantel. That's not to say if you decide to paint the brick Navajo White, you can't find another white that will work on the mantel.

A: Consider using a ArtScreen by Island ArtScreen. The artwork of your choice will conceal your television when not in use and with a touch of a button the artwork will disappear and reveal your television.
