> Trevor Pan is a wonderful architect. I've worked with him on several projects. Trevor brings energy, creativity and skill to every project. His insights are informed by a deep understanding of spatial and visual relationships, function, and clarity. His concepts and solutions are brilliant.
>
> As if it wasn't enough to work with a highly creative and skilled architect, Trevor top's that by being a very pleasant, witty, and interesting person to interact with. He's great at listening and communicating.
>
> I recommend him without hesitation for any commercial, residential, restaurant, office, municipal, or institutional project you need assistance with.

- [Elevated Pergola](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/elevated-pergola-pj-vj~270064)
  - Location: Tempe,, AZ
  - Photos: 3
  - Description: This front yard raised concrete patio and pergola has transformed the neighborhood. The raised concrete patio was conceived to utilize the driveway excavation dirt. The low entry walls to the raised patio frame the step in an elegant and graceful manner which contributes to the success of the design. Considering the mail lady, I designed steps on the east side so she may deliver mail and have an experience on her way to the next house. Of course it makes the patio more usable by having stairs on…

  - Location: Scottsdale, AZ

  - Description: 3 Desert Way is my architectural masterpiece at Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture. It is a desert shelter completed during my master degree program; a architect student dorm room. It took over two years to build and still stands to this day! Marvelous concrete work and inventive forms give such a sense of place when visiting the structure. archrecord.construction.com/archrecord2/work/0609/pan.asp

## Community Q&A

**Q: Where can I find these chairs?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Love them!

A: Hi leslenwal8,

I agree, they are handsome. I picked them up at stackedchairdepot.com. However, I would opt for a more heavy duty chair if you can afford it.

They are very light and sturdy, but having seen heavy duty ones at office buildings in LA I'd opt for them. Try to see them in person if you can-at a store.

Thanks,

Trevor

**Q: need help for designing house for musician** *(in Design Dilemma)*

1000 sqm. area for house construction. 3m from three sides and 4.5m setback from front side.

A: Posting a program (detailed space allocation) and your budget for construction will help your discussion. Also a site plan. Without these items a designer has nothing to work with.

**Q: Need help with exterior and landscape ideas for house in NW GA** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are in the process of remodeling.....
EXTERIOR
-Brick is tan/cream with brown/black bricks
-Air conditioners below all 4 windows(taken those out replaced with brick)
-Rod iron rails are rusted(need to paint...Black?)
 -New Black roof
\- New siding(looks white in pic-its a tan cream that matches window trim)
 -New windows were put in
-what color should front door be? clear glass or solid door ?
(WE NEED TO PRESSURE WASH HOUSE AND GIVE IT A FACE LIFT. THE BRICK WE HAD TO REPLACE DIDNT MATCH SO WE WERE THINKING ABOUT PAINTING IT THE SAME COLOR AS WINDOW/SIDING TAN-CREAM.)

LANDSCAPE
-need lots of plants to help cover up house
(ARBORVITEA-GIANT OR EMERALD ON THE SIDES OF HOUSE...?.)

PLEASE HELP PROVIDE IDEAS :)

A: Out of curiosity, what was that home originally designed for? Its quite an entrance.

Have you thought of making a party space at ground level? to celebrate the stairs? Rather than cover them up bring some sense to them. By this I mean, it is a grande entrance times two; if there were entertainments, fountains, etc it will make more visual sense, and create a fun place for you.

I only say this, because if you purchased it it would seem you enjoy presentation.

**Q: to treat or not to treat new cedar deck** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I've built a new deck and love the look of it new.I also like the look of cedar as it ages to a nice grey but live in Vancouver where it rains....... a lot.
Any suggestions for a sealer that looks natural, environmentally friendly, fairly long lasting and doesn't look orange?

A: I have just the stuff for you. Penofin Verde "Natural". About $55/gal.

**Q: Building new house** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Building a new house and picked dark cabinets in kitchen master bath and main bath? Is that okay or too much?

A: It's all about what color they are next to. They could be peppy with the right surround. Serious with dark walls. Or Neutral with muted colors.

**Q: Help to make front porch more welcoming** *(in Design Dilemma)*

The cedar door is needing repair so it is time for a change. I would love some ideas on how to brighten up the porch and make the entrance more inviting.

A: Would you please post an image approaching the door (from say 15 meters back), and one looking out (leaving the interior)? Or if you have a plan of the property that helps tremendously.

Handsome climate and environment to live in.

Your other photo shows a patio, do you use this much?
