Our project was fraught with challenges due to our proximity to the highly-regulated Chesapeake Bay. Zoning restrictions, home size restrictions, concerns about existing and future septic systems, water wells, canopy tree coverage, buffer zones, native species, flood zone requirements, and more, were common throughout the project. > > Peter gracefully and thoughtfully responded to each of these many challenges in coming up with a brilliant design for a replacement home for our tired 1950's-era cinderblock "cottage." The wall is a fully custom built-in designed in collaboration with my client, Andrea, and her father is the craftsman that built this piece. The goal was a simple (without ever getting to simplistic) design with a hint of the exuberance that is Andrea. There were a lot of design constraints including; distance of wood to the fireplace, working the flue around the recess of the TV niche, hiding all of the tv equipment, integrating all of the materials and to top it all off the front door is just to the right of the unit so it HAD to look great from the side view as well.
