The project was demo of an existing covered porch then building a 4 season sunroom, the addition of a new 2.5 car garage, and connecting the two with an enclosed breezeway. The challenges were building during COVID, getting hit with 2 major snow storms, dealing with some unique permitting requirements, a construction site that is up on a hill with difficult access, and coordinating the work with other contractors working on the job. A: Its marble **Q: Where should the backsplash end?!** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hi! We are in the middle of a kitchen remodel and are trying to decide where our backsplash should extend to. There is a short wall that the last upper cabinet is up against, but the wall is a couple of inches longer than the cabinet. I think that the backsplash shouldn't be on that small wall at all, but I'm curious to hear other people's opinions on the matter! The first picture is of the kitchen (backsplash and other projects in progress), and the second is a closer view of the wall in question from inside the kitchen. Would love to hear all your thoughts :) A: I don't think there is a correct answer here, but I like to have it follow the counter. **Q: where to end backsplash in awkward spot?** *(in Design Dilemma)* See photo. I can either end it before the plug and short of the end of cabinet and countertop or all the way to end of wall or where?!? Cannot move that pug/light switches as there was a duct there. no other options... A: Wow that really is an awkward spot! That would be enough for me to give serious thought to just a 4" backsplash to match the counter. Is there any possibility of moving the electrical? **Q: Is this a botched tile job?! Or is it the lighting?** *(in Design Dilemma)* I'm concerned about this tile job. I've read that lighting can be unforgiving for subway tiles - should I just modify the lighting? This is a place I'll be selling so it's mostly whether it is passable to others and whether they would be as picky as me once the whole bathroom is done Thanks! A: Pictures can be misleading but this looks like a poor job from drywall to tile, sorry to say. More importantly, what is behind that tile? I hope its not drywall. Also, is that a sprinkler head I see in the shower? **Q: Grout question** *(in Design Dilemma)* Is it possible to change grout colors after tile has been set and grouted? We finished our project 8 months ago and I wish I had chosen a different grout in the kitchen and the upper half of a shower. A: there are grout colorants on the market that allow you to do just that.
